Ricay 2 Exeter 2

Must say well done to all the players and fans today we really did deserve to win and have done Ricay proud. Is a great shame about the lack of concentration at the end but I guess it means extra dosh for us in a replay and who knows what we can do then.

One moment sums up the feeling after the game though which came on my way home after the match. Having switched on the radio, guess what came on... 'the winner takes it all' by abba!!!

Unbelievable ending I am so gutted!! I really thought we were gonna do it today, but it just wasn't to be. A great turnout, don't know the exact attendance but I imagine it's the highest of the season.

Gothard had an outstanding game, man of the match in my opinion, but credit must go to all the players as they gave it 110% well done boys!

Does anyone know when the replay is?

Official attendance 1380

According to the prog the replay is Tues 25 Jan 7.45 ko

Like many gutted we let in two late goals but probably would have taken a draw at the start. Outstanding penalty save from Gothard early doors. Trott heads in from corner. 1-0 half time

Steve Forbes pokes home from close range 2 mins after break. Exeter score from corner with 8 to go and straight from the ko score again. It's still a good result and it's not impossible for us to win the replay. We still have to learn to concentrate for the whole 90 minutes. We are our own worst enemies at the moment. Having said that can't fault our boys for effort. Let's keep it up for a big game on Saturday.

Gothard

Henty Macca Trott Kerrigan

Gallagher Hunter Forbes Dormer

Wareham (Stowe) Cousins

Replay will be the 25th according to the programme, which sounds right. The performance was excellent today, once again we gave a conference side a good run for their money.

3rd minute Exeter get a penalty. Nobody really seemed to notice for a while, we were all just getting settled down. Cue a fantastic save from Gothard to tip the ball over. Mass celebrations from us.

40th minute Trott gets a good head to the ball and we go into the break one nil up, and not undeservedly. They bring on two subs at the beginning of the second half. We then score a second so soon after half time that several people i spoke to thought we'd actually lost as they hadnt seen us go two up!

Wareham sent a curler just wide, probably should have done better, by that time they were attacking in numbers and leaving holes at the back. All fine until about 87 minutes or so when they get one back from a corner. Ok dont panic, still one up with a few minutes to play. But panic is exactly what we did, and let them straight back in for the equaliser. Utterly demoralising, and also about the only time we heard the Exeter fans make any noise.

Well done on the performance, once again we can feel a little unlucky. We have a chance of course in the replay, and at least were in the hat but cant help feeling our chance has passed.

Good home support today, singing almost all the way through. Just hope we see some of the people singing "well support you evermore" at the Braintree and Eastleigh games. Cant see it though. Mind you, im not gonna be there so i cant really talk. Should make it to the replay though.

Crowd was 1380, and second highest of the day in the trophy which is bloody impressive.

Well, im thoroughly depressed now, as im sure all Ricay fans are, but if theyd offered us a draw at kick off (or after the penalty was given), im sure we would have taken it, so all in all its still a good result.

Special mention for Gothard, he had an absolutely stunning game. Not just the penalty save, but at least 4 other excellent saves. Good contender for man of the match.

Unlucky. You must be gutted after coming so close to victory. Good luck in the replay.

Is there anyone in The Conference league that we fear? On that performance, I say no. Despite the lack of concentration in the last 5 minutes, our boys did the club proud. Again we made a top flight Conference side look ordinary and as has been typed on this forum, who knows what will happen in the reply.

On the last five minutes, one has to remember this is a young side and they still have a lot to learn...and they will...This lesson is one I'm sure they won't forget in a hurry and we're still in the draw for the next round!!!

Of course, like any true Ricay fan who suffered that last two minutes, I am ABSOLUTELY GUTTED. We came so close to making major headlines on TV, radio and all the footy press - but...we have still pulled off a hell of a result and anyone who was there today will have seen a Billericay team play with pride, passion, intelligence, skill and no little commitment for (nearly!) all the 90 minutes against not just a Conference side, but up until recently a former league side who we all know are on something of a crest of a wave themselves! This Town team are something special and as Justin keeps reminding us, there's so much more to come as they keep learning their trade. I have rarely been so proud at a Ricay performance - off the pitch too! I don't think I've ever heard Blues fans sing so loud at New Lodge, though Exeter's last minute chorus of "two-nil and you f****d it up" did kind of give them the final word. (Don't tell me we wouldn't have done the same!!!) Nice bunch of people too - I for one will be hoping they do Utd on Wed - so they are still suffering from hangovers by Tuesday week and we can win the replay there! I'm rambling now, gutted, yes, but what a day...

PS: My mum tells me that John Motson was praising us on Final Score on BBC1 saying we were the equal of Exeter for the whole game - was he there? WE WERE BETTER !!!

Well...lets me think...did the Exeter City fans sing throughout all the game...I didn't hear them. They only started "chirping" up when the game was 2 - 1...In my mind, the team, the supporters, in fact the whole club showed themselves to better than Exeter City. So applause all round for everyone.

We were singing for the whole of the first half behind the goal we were defending, stood right next to your fans who were singing.

The problem is with no segregation is that we aren`t used to moving. We pick a spot and stick to it. As a result all our fans were all over the place.

On the game, you were very unlucky. Our team was virtually full strength and we would have expected to win. Have a safe trip for the replay.

Yes was a good laugh with no segregation. Were used to it, but not so many fans usually, and they all know the etiquette, stand behind the goal your attacking. Most of the Exe fans who were at our end moved when they got mobbed after you missed the pen. Bless em, they didnt know what had hit them!

I presume the game at your place will be segregated. We wont enjoy that, prefer being able to see all the action at the end where you want the action. Nothing worse than an oppo goal going in right under your nose.

pretty much agree with all thats been said. It was great to us on Sky sports News yesterday. If you never saw it, it was about 3-4minutes and justin was interviewed before the game and they showed most of the ground. The whole thing was primarily focused on exeter as you would expect but even so, still a bit of publicity.

Also, with about a dozen photographers around the pitch I wonder which one was the gazette!!

Well done lads.

Well I am still gutted absolutely gutted after that. Offered 2-2 all before hand would have taken but now. Bring on the replay is what I say its not over till its over, as we showed V Rusheden. My ohh so important student loan means I shall be at the big game fingers crossed. I have to say that the Exeter were good fun and nice apologetic after the game.
