The old saga of Ryman 2

BOROMAN

Recommended Posts

Seen on another board that there is going to be a new Ryman Div 1 North. Is this in addition to the current Div 1 leagues or is it replacing something else.

According to the poster, top 8 from Ryman 2 are going to be invited in. If that is so it would be yet another abuse of power. The authorties keep forgetting that Ryman 2 is the same level as ESL, South Mids etc. So the Ryman 2 clubs have no right to an easier passage than the other level 5's who will have to go via play off's. Also if it's 8 for Ryman 2 it should be 8 for all the others.

Correct me if I am wrong Boroman, but until last season, weren't the Ryman 2 higher up than the ESL, so could it not be that the Ryman League are just correcting an error putting them at the same level as Ridgeons, Esl.

Now to get slated, no offence Esl teams. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Sounds a bit confusing. How can the ryman have a north and south when div 1 is made up of all southern teams. Maybe a south east and south west. And if 8 teams are promoted how many teams in each division 15? And where will the rest of the div 2 teams go. A shambles.

You are sort of right, but on the big reshuffle it was decreed the Ryman had too many teams compared with other leagues. Some played at Vase level as well. Therefore they took the top six (inc Hornchurch) and the rest became level 5.

Of course, if they had used my idea of disbanding words like Southern, Unibond, Ryman etc and just gone over to the Rugby system then tendered for new sponsors/franchise's, then who owns what would all have been history.
