WILLENHALL TOWN 4 vs CHASETOWN 1

After their successful pre-season build up hopes were high at Noose Lane for the Reds in their opening game of the season.

However with less than 2 minutes played the home team were brought back to earth with a bang when the visitors scored. A shot by Bradbury was deflected to Edwards who slotted home from close range.

The Reds continued to play their attacking style of football and came close on 8 minutes when a Bullimore shot was just wide. His strike partner Hay was denied on 24 minutes by a brave dive by keeper Bryan after he was clean through on goal.

Willenhall's pressure paid off on 35 minutes when a free kick wasn't held by Bryan and Hay pounced to nod home the deserved equaliser.

Tranter could have restored Chasetowns advantage on 40 minutes when his free kick was tipped over by keeper Vaughan.

Willenhall started the second half just as Chasetwon had started the first, with a goal. Just 2 minutes into the restart and a ball over the defence found Bullimore who's low shot beat Bryan.

This started a spell of severe pressure for the Reds and more goals looked to be on the cards.

On 66 minutes Creighton saw his diving poke hit the post following a corner, and on 70 minutes keeper Bryan saved a Bullimore shot.

Town's 3rd goal came on 76 minutes when a Moseley corner was meet by a high jumping Bullimore who headed home his second.

Chasetown's Yates saw his free kick go narrowly over the bar on 81 minutes. But 2 minutes later Bullimore collected a long through ball from sub Whitcombe, and his looping shot beat the stranded keeper for his first hat trick of the season.

With plenty of life left in the Reds, Hay was again denied by the diving keeper on 85 minutes.

The only low point of the entertaining game came 2 minutes into added time when Willenhall's Carter and Chasetown's sub Preston were dismissed for a scuffle.

Willenhall visit Rushall on Tuesday for a MFA match (7.30) and entertain Biddulph Victoria on Saturday 17th August.
