Any idea what the result was last night? (I think they played, didn't they? Or was it Wivenhoe??). Had a look for the results on the NLP website but it hasn't been updated yet.

they drew 1-1 with barking but won 3-2 on penalties and will play Uxbridge on saturday in the play off final at Maldon

wivenhoe lost 3-0 to uxbridge yesterday aswell . The final is Maldon v Uxbridge on sat

Congratulations to Maldon who beat Uxbridge on penalties today after a 2-2 draw in the Southern League Eastern play off final. They will probably go up to the Ryman League and can look forward to playing the likes of Braintree, Billericay and especially Heybridge.

the standard of football in the game was poor. was very windy and neither side got the ball down, instead it was left to swirl around in the air for much of the afternoon. i blame that on the nervousness of the occasion. maldon absolutely bossed the first half but uxbridge got late penalty. not much happened in 2nd half. it kicked off in extra time as uxbridge scored against run of play but maldon got late equaliser. simon parker, league top scorer. looks a quality player but didnt have a good game sat. if that makes sense!!!

 

then the keeper save 3 pens in the shootout which sparked the maldon contingent to invade. was very funny.

Maldon have the best Bovril in the league !!! plus great chilli con carne after the game !!

well done to them , think they will do ok at ryman prem level although i would be concerned about their back line , its prone to a few errors

Yes i remember the bovril and burgers over there well.

Remember the night you went to see the gaffer Trenks and you enquired if bovril was sold, if not then you would not be signing!

with all the grounds that i had the pleasure to visit(burger bars included)i have got to say that maldon top that list.after an east anglian cup match with the boro where buzz scored after 60seconds of coming on,we enjoyed a nice lasagne and chips,delicious <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> not to mention the burgers at the county cup final last year... <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" />
