STUDLEY 1 vs WILLENHALL TOWN 3

Gary Hay was the hat-trick hero for the Reds as he blasted them to the top of the MFA.

In a scrappy game the score perhaps flattered the visitors, after 8 minutes Hay made his intentions known when his effort went just over the bar.

Ian Mitchell nearly broke the deadlock in spectacular fashion on 18 minutes when virtually on the half way line he lobbed the ball towards the Willenhall goal, his effort however hit the underside of the crossbar.

On 29 minutes Hay tapped the ball into the net from a corner however with the keeper on the floor the effort was disallowed.

Studley's Grubb beat keeper Vaughan to the ball following a chase, his effort going just over.

Hay broke the deadlock on 43 minutes, following a neat one-two with Grosvenor the young striker blasted the ball past Pugh to give the Reds the lead.

Just 4 minutes into the second half and a pulsating run by Moseley saw his cross perfectly converted by Hay for his second of the game.

Both teams were reduced to 10 men on 58 minutes following a scuffle. Studley got back into the game on 78 minutes when Vaughan got his hand to a cross however Fergie was on hand to head home.

The final tense 10 minutes produced some of the best efforts, first a Moseley cross was just missed by Hay (81 minutes) then on 85 minutes Studleys Pountey saw his shot tipped over the bar. On 89 minutes Hay collected the ball beat 2 defenders, before his low shot was saved by the hand of a diving Pugh.

However, Hay got his first hat trick of the season on 90 minutes when he collected a through ball from Moseley, the striker then rifled the ball into the net.

Willenhall entertain Marconi on Saturday 7th in a FA Vase match.
