Next Years Friendlies

Guest

Recommended Posts

So have we started contacting some League clubs to play in next season's pre-season friendlies.

Think we should. Maybe Wycombe, Reading & MK Don's may be worth a try. Any other suggestions?

Who at the club deals with this?

I would like to know so I can suggest it to them.

Even if we just email the clubs to get the ball rolling.

Things like this are usually arranged in March time when clubs will have some idea of what they are doing pre-season.

You'll struggle to get some of the bigger name clubs higher profile players down due to the lack of facilities as well. Many clubs have repeat fixtures where they know they've been well looked after in the past, and sometimes it's hard to develop that relationship with the bigger clubs, but well worth a shot.

It's also worth thinking about if a friendly against a full strength league side is worth it. Getting played off the park hardly inspires confidence, nor does it give you a chance of testing out tactics/players/set plays which may be beneficial during the season.

Got to agree with Gary. Had this discussion with Geggy and Malc at one of the pre-season games and we just don't have a good enough pitch and changing rooms etc etc etc.

Anything but the Dons. FC Franchise are pariahs, and deservedly so.
How about Brentford? Reasonably local, and at least one division higher than FCF by the start of next season.
