Midland Football Alliance

WILLENHALL TOWN 3 vs GROSVENOR PARK 0

Some clinical finishing by the Reds strike duo in the first half was the difference between the two teams.

Willenhall started the game putting the visitors under pressure, on just 5 minutes keeper Bishop stumbled and with the ball seemingly heading over him, the visiting keeper brilliantly recovered to tip the ball to safety at the expense of a corner. From the resulting Grosvenor corner kick, striker Bullimore headed home at the near post.

On 15 minutes the Reds nearly doubled their lead in bizarre fashion when their keeper Vaughan unleashed a powerful kick, the bounce deceived the strikers then deceived the keeper before narrowly going just over the crossbar.

Two minutes later and Reds new boy Walker sent a ball over the defence towards Hay who lobbed it into the roof of the net.

On 27 minutes Bullimore beat the off side trap from just inside the visitors half, upon collecting the ball he sprinted goalwards before sliding the ball past the advancing Bishop.

With Park unable to control the rampant Reds, they nearly fell further behind on 33 minutes when a Whitcombe free kick hit the underside of the crossbar and landed in the hands of Bishop.

On 44 minutes Bullimore and Hay combined before a brillant Bishop dived to prevent a Hay volley reaching the back of the net.

Right on half time and Whitcombe's corner was headed onto the bar by Pearce.

After the first half goal feast the second half was an anticlimax, on 51 minutes Hay and Bullimore combined again before Hay blasted wide with just Bishop to beat.

Bishop bravely divided at Bullimore's feet on 67 minutes to deny the marksman his hat-trick.

Park's first goal effort came on 69 minutes when sub Daniels long range effort was well over the Willenhall crossbar. Five minutes later and Anifowose effort was comfortably caught by keeper Vaughan.

Park's Dale denied Bullimore on 78 minutes when he cleared off the line.

Willenhall entertain Halesowen Harriers on Tuesday and then Stafford Town on Saturday (12th).
