Reds Continue Unbeaten Run

Even with 4 key players missing Willenhall cruised past a poor Stafford side to maintain their unbeaten league run.

 

Captain Pearce should have broken the deadlock on 7 minutes when a through ball over the Stafford defence beat the offside trap, Pearce with just keeper Bullivant to beat tamely lobbed the ball into the keepers hands.

 

However just a minute later the Reds were in the lead when Bullivant took Hays feet, and from the spot kick Hay slid the ball lowly into the bottom corner of the net.

 

On 11 minutes Bullivnat brilliantly tipped a Grosvenor 35 yard free kick over the bar to keep the visitors in the game.

 

However on 23 minutes striker Hay turned provider when, following some neat trickery his low cross was blasted into the net by Walker.

 

Stafford's only effort of the first half came on 26 minutes when a 20 yard volley by Gilby was collected by Vaughan.

 

Just 10 minutes into the second half and a Grosvenor cross was headed home by Bullimore to give the Reds a 3 goal advantage.

 

On 62 minutes McMahon found himself, one on one with the keeper, Vaughan produced a brilliant save at the expensive of a corner.

 

Whitcombe then saw his effort go just wide of the Stafford post on 72 minutes. Pearce then saw his shot go wide 6 minutes later.

 

Willenhall now have 2 cup matches, on Tuesday they visit Dr Martens side RC Warwick for a Birmingham Senior Cup game. On Saturday (19th Oct) Central Midlands Supreme side South Normanton Athletic are the visitors to Noose Lane in a FA Vase game.
