PELSALL VILLA 1 vs WILLENHALL TOWN 1

The heavy downpour of rain prior to kick off made conditions tricky for the teams, and it was Willenhall who had the first chance of the game on 7 minutes when S Carter sprinted down the wing before crossing the ball to Hay who blasted his effort just wide.

Just 5 minutes later and Villa took a surprise lead when chaos in Town's defence left ex-Townie Tolley unmarked to volley home Perry's cross.

On 17 minutes Willenhall suffered yet another devastating injury blow when defender Simon Carter was stretchered off the field.

Hay nearly snatched an equaliser on 22 minutes when he latched onto an awkward bounce which had deceived the Villa defence, his looping shot just wide.

Six minutes later and a Grosvenor cross was met by a diving Quilt who's effort was just wide of the Villa post yet again.

A 20 yard freekick by Jones smashed onto the Willenhall crossbar on 32 minutes.

Willenhall got back into the game on 48 minutes when sub Goodall slipped Hay a perfect through ball and the striker stroked the ball past keeper Biffin.

Willenhall started to dominate the second half but couldn't grab another goal, on 65 minutes Quilt went to tap home a cross and appeared to be floored by the keeper, no penalty screamed the ref.

Two minutes later a Whitcombe cross was headed goalwards by Creighton, only for Biffin to produce a brilliant diving save. Biffin did well on 73 minutes when he bravely blocked a Grosvenor effort.

Then on 83 minutes a Hay header was caught by a jumping Biffin to ensure Villa grabbed a share of the points.

Willenhall visit Quorn on Saturday.
