Goodwill Gesture from Chelmsford ?????

Recommended Posts

I think it would be a good idea to take a look at the "Thanks to Ricay" thread over on the CCFC soapbox.

Whilst many of the messageboard pundits seem to think some sort of momento marking the end of our long association is in order, I'm afraid the general consensus of opinion is that the CCFC fans should merely reciprocate the hospitality shown by the Ricay fans during this period!

It's a shame that a few negative Chelmsford fans should make the most noise. The thread you mention is only 5- 4 against, and I would suggest not representative of the Chelmsford city majority. I know that the vast majority of ricay fans are pleased to see CCFC back in their home town and wish them well….but we wouldn’t openly admit it.

Message boards are not representative of the majority; they merely reflect the feelings of a small group…. and banter is often taken far too seriously.

Rivalry between our clubs was of no great importance until recently… the placing of Chelmsford and Billericay in the same league dictated that our relationship would no longer be the same....that’s football and it's why we all love it.

After all, there’s no greater pleasure in football, than beating your closest rival.

No need for the bitterness though.

Free entry to MP...now thats a great idea

Agreed - all valid points.

However, please note that I personally agree that some sort of momento should be presented to BTFC as thanks for your CLUB'S hospitality over the past few years, but free admission for Ricay fans to MP - I think not (large loans to be repaid)!

Perhaps a happy hour or two in our magnificent new clubhouse after the match would suffice, so you could celebrate (or drown your sorrows as the case maybe) with a minimum of expense?

well stranger things have happened, weve got some tough games coming up perhaps if we can get enough points over christmas to really put us in the challenge for playoffs ill be thinking differently, but with East Thurrock, Braintree and Hampton coming up there is a chance we will take minimal points and you may climb above us........BUT im not worried about that just yet seems as we have so many players to return from injury we will be able to name a strong 16 man squad and hopefully like i already said make a Real push on the playoff places!

The chances of us rising above you over the course of the next 3 games is minimal Tom - we have Worthing and Braintree (away) and Fisher at home (and you thought YOUR games were tough). We're also suffering from a couple of semi long term injuries to crucial players, with another consistent player out on Saturday due to suspension. Think you'll find that status quo will remain until 2nd January, but it will be an interesting game if we could overtake you with a win on the day.
