Christmas Memories .....

Graeme H

Recommended Posts

Beating Hillingdon Borough 1-0 in the early eighties with a goal by the bearded wonder Lennie Lee - then losing 0-5 to them six days later !!

Losing a top of the table clash to Basingstoke in 84/5 0-1.

A totally depressing 0-6 defeat to Crawley in 83/4 when by friend Martyn Lambert contemplated topping himself on Radio Hartsdown.

Drawing 2-2 at Chatham when Gary Pugh sat on the ball two yards out from goal instead of scoring.

Going to Canterbury City a lot. Usually losing, always freezing.

Losing 3-2 at Tonbridge when we had been 2-0 up at half time - - just before the above mentioned Basingstoke game.

We were usually rubbish at Christmas in the eighties !!

Thanks for the memories Graeme!

More recently I remember getting a whole gang of people together to go to the home Boxing Day Conference fixture against Dover. They were all non-league virgins, but I talked them into it with promises of cut-and-thrust end-to-end excitement.

The match was dire, and we lost 1-0.
