Difficult to assess, a lot in the side stand. Best guess 120/140.

Gritty and grafting team performance on an absolutely diabolical pitch with the ball bobbling around all over the place. With Colin away sick, Nick took charge for the game. Everyone played their part. Wasn't going to single anyone out but just have to mention Bazza, who had been laid low all week and climbed out of his sickbed to play. A colossus.

Surely that's not 'not pretty' as in 15 months ago, but rather 'not pretty' as in 'we tried to play football on a boggy bumpy pitch against opponents who tried to close us down from the start, physical and intimidating, relying upon Route 1 ball to counter-attack with one quality striker who left his shooting boots at home.

Did you notice the number of 'divoteers' on the pitch at half-time, JKiF. There must have been at least 50 of them, for all the good they did, mind. Freeloaders.

"...they gave away a stupid goal..."

Hmmnnn? The first came from a well taken free kick by Ben Walshe to the far post, where Lee Clarke came in, effectively unchallenged behind two centre-backs to head the ball firmly goalwards. Their keeper parried the header straight out to met by the head of the oncoming Ptrick Ada, effectively unmarked, who headed it straight back into the net. Stupid? Yes, O.K.

The second came from an inswinging corner from our right by Ben Walshe - an imposing figure on Saturday, I thought. Two defenders and the 'keeeper on the near post left it to each other, but Matt 'Matty' Hann nipped in between the three of them to hammer an unstoppable shot home from about 9 inches. Stupid? Yes O.K. That one was 'stupid', too.

Pitchfork is about right, JKiF.

I'm with you now, JKiF. You're quoting from a Lewes match report/forum. Yes we took two of our chances. We had 4 or 5 half-chances in the first half and took one. They were arguably the more threatening side for the first 10 minutes or so of the second half and they didn't take any of theirs. We took another chance and they had a couple towards the end of the match.

If that had been a boxing match, we would have won it on points pretty comfortably.

I liked the look of Sigere - he's a class act - and Fontana has some real pace. Djoumin didn't look as comfortable at right back altough most of our openings came from our right hand side where it was Matt 'Matty' Hann versus Dean 'Pussy Cat' Hooper.
