NO 17 Luke Williams

Hopefully have not got my observations on the younger players mixed up;but thought they all did well;but was particularly impressed by Luke Williams who i think was the guy playing right side of defence in a back 3 for the last 20 minutes.

 

He covered full back and centre defence-had some pace,won a couple of headers, and looked assured.

 

Ok ,it was only 20 minutes in a side winning 5-0,and Watts had gone off by then i think; but even so,on that performance, i was very impressed by him.

Always felt ,we needed 3 main string central defenders, and a younger guy coming through;as undoubtedly, there will be occasions when at least 2 of the 3 central defenders(if Sappleton signs ) are out .

 

I'd be confident to see this Luke Williams slot in; as again, i thought he was the most impressive of an impressive bunch of younger team players

Pleased to see he got a 45 minute second half run-out alongside RT.

 

Any specific thoughts on how he played yesterday-he looked very accomplished to me against Fisher in his 20 min. spell.

 

Our '4th' central defender(assuming RT signs a third)and we will certainly need 4 players for this position imo with injuries and suspensions etc

I tried to pay as much attention as I could to him but bearing in mind the defence was never threatened it was difficult to keep trying to check. He seems to have pace and a decent positional sense but I'm afraid I didn't get to watch him as closely as I would have liked. Aaron Robinson did well though. Thought he looked a bit out of his depth against Fisher but made an impact yesterday.

Although it was only a brief appearance, no mean feat to keep Leroy griffiths in toe(and stand on his toe) in the Fisher game
