It's got nothing to do with being a Conference club, you should still have short grass. There's no reason not to.

why should they,no one should have to cut their pitch to suit canvey,hornchurch or anyone,we played aveley the other week and they purposley didn't cut the pitch to stop us putting the ball down,its just tough and we got on with it and beat them

They should have to do it for the same reason everyone else should - in the interest of fairness.

And the grass weren't even that long to be fair, and there is a reason for it being a bit long! Our pitch gets cut up quite badly in the winter, so by leaving it longer it will protect it for longer!

we know it aint the best pitch in the world but it aint awful!

we like getting the ball down and playing so it aint ideal for us either!

is there a regulation maximum length of the grass? i.e. does the ref have to see the players socks or something, or is this truly down to the discretion of the home team?

fairness thats bollox,if a team wants to play on the floor they cut their pitch like a snooker table to suit them,if a team wants to stop another club playing on the floor they don't cut the grass,both are fair and both are legitimate

we would love to have a surface like Hornchurch or Sudbury but some pitches just aint the best, plus we dont have a full time groundsman and we also ground share with enfield aswell as having our ressies and youth side playing on it!!

just read your rants from the past couple of hours,so what their grass was long,if you are that bothered the night before you go away,turn up at their ground and cut it yourself.

Have you ever thought that some clubs may not actually cut their grass as much as others because they don't have the staff,or maybe the groundsman was taken ill or died the day before

Or maybe they just like it that way!!!
