i wouldn't say the essex teams are better than us, but when we play them away we always struggle. even the lesser teams from essex are tough games away from home.

 

i take it you know our history and why we find ourselves in the positoin we are in, but we are trying to do something about it, 14 years without a home, and we are still around. we have the foundations regarding a good board and fan base and when the ground is built we will have the base.

 

btw. how long have you been following the urchins? and how long is the plan to get into the nationwide league?

well then...you need to get a proper forum so us guys can get on there and wind you all up.....yes I do know the history of your club and....being serious for a mo....myself and a lot of other people respect what you've done to keep the club going under what must have been extremely difficult circumstances.... at the end of the day....yes we support our clubs but we are all fottie fans.....period....we know how hard non league survival is......you've also got a good team this year and I'm sure you will be in the shake up at the end...that will come down to four teams in my opinion........you have to accept however that the stick you get is a result of some of your fan base believing...shall we say...that they are somewhat superior to everyone else....a lot of fans live in the past....your club...along with a few others..is not the power that it once was.....arrogant fans taking the p*** out of everyone else will...I am afraid to say....attract retribution in kind....we're fine at little old hornchurch...long as we get left alone.........once all the wind ups start...well...we like that as well and will give as good as we get....hence the current rivalry between the two clubs....it is only a wind up and we do genuinely see it as a laugh......some don't and bite easily...has to be said however that we all need another club to have a go at so...for the moment...your's will do just fine.....also please remember....your guys come onto our forum...we have never been on yours cos we can't find it......we also accept that we are a legitimate target cos of whats happened at the club......we laugh about that as well......take it in your stride camel...there's no real harm meant or intended...its all just cos there's no footie at the moment...once the serious games are back on it all gets forgotten...............good luck...

 

Sorry...haven't answered your last two questions.....four years is the answer to the first and before you think that all genuine fans support their club from birth....I say nonsence.....everything has to start somewhere...we started the rebirth of HFC from the third division with 30 fans.....we have an excellent chance of premier football next year and our average home gate is creeping up to 300....we will also have 2000 seats by the end of this season....love us or hate us.....you have to take your hat off to that and by the way.....we don't have a wage bill anywhere near as big as people say and we have 6 first team players who played in the old third division.... we are 'football supporters' through and through........my own team...who shall remain nameless......I have played for at every level since the age of 11 and still support to this day.....50 years on.....the urchins is a wonderful little story...its just that no one really has cottoned on yet.....time will tell.......as to the time scale...five years is the answer....it won't be easy and there will be problems along the way...we know that....we will be ready to deal with them as well as eat humble pie and read all the gloats on the forum when we do come unstuck from time to time.....which is certain....it will still be fun and we'll still laugh...even if we're back in the old ryman 3rd....!!!!.......................... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Yes, at times, we do live in the past but you must understand that due to the constant pain we have had (bar a couple of promotions) over the last 14 years we do harp on about the good ol' days. its natural, but at the same time we look forward to the future and hopefully more glory.

 

be careful of a 5 year plan, if i had a quid for everytime i have heard that i would be very rich. even with your huge backing i'd say it would take longer than that.

 

am intruiged as to what club you played for.... but anyway keep up the baiting. i will reply in kind.

seriously though...going back to any clubs history and past...its struck me as sad that when we visit other clubs..and ours is the same...there appears to be little in the way of memorabilia or artifacts and indeed trophies going right back to the start of these clubs...where does it all go to I wonder....might be a good topic this for discussion....certainly some 90% of the goodies that should be at HFC are not there...conjurs up thoughts of ex manager's and chairmen's lofts all over the country full of non leage memorabilia collecting dust....shame really...any one else got any views on that one.....

I seem to have a major dislikness for Bedford Town, but I can't put my finger on why! I think it's cause everyone involved with their club gets off on slagging off Canvey due to our success that they seem to be jealous of it...

 

I have also developed a thing against Hayes, once again I don't why but it could be down to the fact that they are always whining about this League and everyone in it!!

 

But I will always remember our rivalry with the likes of Collier Row & Romford, (before they merged!!) Other than that I enjoy the banter between other clubs and us!!

The worst thing I remember St. Albans doing is knocking us out of the FA Cup, but our Trophy win more than made up for that!!
