In hindsight...

In amongst the dbacle of Saturday - and for those of you who had turned off by then I used the phrase that the Fleet "failed to reach the First Round Proper, but to be fair didnt deserved to be there! Outfought, outguessed and outplayed by a lively Chelmsford side it really wasnt the Fleet's day!"

And that final point is the point that people must remember - ALL GOOD TEAMS HAVE OFF DAYS and it is a mark of those teams how they either perform next time out or if they can actually get a result playing poorly. OK so the latter didnt happen, but the Fleet aren't 4th in the Conference by being a bad side and you dont becone a bad side overnight! I had a friend with me on Saturday (yes I have got one!) and he'd been to see almost the same Chelmsford side lose the Maidstone the previous week! The reason because the Stones did to Chelmsford what they did to the Fleet on Saturday - got in their faces and scored the first goal!

OK so Liam and the boys are out of the FA Cup but they were never going to win it and after seeing the draw, maybe it will be just as well if the boys have a weekend off after all!

Yes I was as disappointed on Saturday as anyone reading this board (and I even think the Stafford performance was better!) but IT WAS ONLY ONE GAME! And it didnt cost the Fleet any League places or points... And that ladies and gentlemen is why (as I also said in summing up) Saturday was "a day instantly forgetable!"

Best wishes to Lance as I heard all sorts of horro stories after the game about his condition - and well done to young Sam - and in Liam's shoes I wouldnt hesitate putting him in goal at Morecambe at the weekend!

Final word I feel must go to referee Joe Singh! Again people will know that I very seldom praise officials (indeed i think I've only ever done it once before) but I though Mr Singh was fantastic and well deserves to replace some of the idiots that are currently runing our professional game. Forget trying to fast track some of these spotty nose kids who read arule book with no brain, our game needs referee's like Joe. I even felt that I had to make comment to Liam about it after the game and he said that he knew exactly what the Fleet were getting with the man in black on Saturday - an official who did the game straight down the middle...

Thank you Mr Singh - I just wish there were more like you!!!
