Seriously Andy we were trying to get the ground redeveloped in our first season in the Conference (believe it all started the year before) and our first attempt to get funding from the Football Trust failed because of delays by Thanet Council.

That is not me having a dig but we had to wait for approval from the Council before we could apply to the Trust (one of their requirements). Thanet Council dragged their feet and did not respond until after the cut off date.

Wonder if anyone knows of one thing the Council has done that has been of benefit to the club??

There was a proposal to re-locate the club to Westwood just before CK came to the club I think. Then there was Jackie Bakers, then the developer that went bust ...... but does everyone live happily ever after?

i cant think of anything the council has done to benefit the town let alone the club.the decline started in the late 60s and has gone downhill fast from there but personally ithink the councils of the 70s must take most of the blame for sheer lack of investment in what was a really good place to live and work

Theres plenty of Good but also plenty of bad, it just the bad sticks in your mind

I wish the council would just turn around and say yep a stadium is needed, this is what we want, can you do it ?

But its the not knowning that making it harder to Stomach, my personal feeling is that the council just don't want a stadium.

Now before you read anything into this I had no dealings with the stadium during my involvement with the club. So its just my personal views

You might find talk of the stadium boring but some of us dont. The redevelopment of the stadium and the other bits and pieces I understood was important to the club's future. The redevelopment hasnt been talked about for ages. Theres nothing wrong with asking what the latest is.
