Team Bath FC must overcome AFC Hornchurch for a place in the first round proper of the FA Cup.

The University of Bath-based side are due to make the trip to Essex to play the Ryman Premier Division side on Saturday 27th October.

Team Bath FC, who are sponsored by Mowbray Woodwards and Ted Baker, reached the fourth qualifying round by virtue of a 1-0 win over Weston-super-Mare at Twerton Park yesterday (Sunday). Hornchurch beat Dulwich Hamlet 2-1 on Friday night to reach the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup, which is sponsored by E.ON.

Andy Tillson (pictured), Team Bath FC’s head coach, said: “It’s not going to be easy. Obviously we would have liked to be at home – any away game at this level is going to be tough.

“We’re touching distance away from the first round proper. You can forget about dreaming now, we’ve got to get ourselves organised for it,” he added. “It’s a great opportunity for the team.

“We’ll go there, show them respect, and approach the game the same way as we did the Weston-super-Mare game.”

The current Team Bath side are bidding to emulate the achievement of the team of five years ago, when TeamBath reached the first round proper of the FA Cup.

They made a piece of history by becoming the first university side for 122 years to reach the first round proper, when they went down 4-2 at home to Mansfield in a game televised live by Sky Sports.

AFC Hornchurch are currently 12th in the Ryman Premier. Team Bath FC are third in the British Gas Business Premier Division. The two divisions are at the same level in the football pyramid.
