Er Rob, i think you've missed the point of Jesus' poll. No-one's been questioning the greatness of these bands have they?

You seem to have missed Springsteen and the E Street band. No, I am young and hip. Really.

Yep, I voted for The Who... only because Iron Butterfly weren't there, mind.

The same "Let's all go kill Napster" Metallica? The greatest out-sellers of all time? Deary me... Never mind, you'll grow out of it...
(Sorry was just browsing but I have "views") grin.gif" border="0

Well, I am more of a Radiohead fan myself, but apparently that doesn't mix well with football. It's a shame Croydon can't run out to Creep (lyrics "what the hell am I doing here, I don't belong here).
You can't put Oasis up there, I know they're a great band saw them at Knebworth in '96, but the're only good for 2 albums. Metallica were big when I was at school, but so where Guns'N'Roses and Nirvana and do they get a mention?? (sorry I am going in to one here).
Has to be Led Zep, simple as. smile.gif" border="0

Sick of reading this crap about how Oasis 'only' made two good albums - most bands don't even make ONE great album.
And of the groups listed, only Oasis and Led Zeppelin can really claim to have made more than one great album.
Dire Straits and Black Sabbath?? Don't make me laugh

Mr AFF I think you will find that song was re-titled to "Fat and Ready to Go"

While I'm here I would have to agree that Oasis and Led Zep are streets ahead of the competition there. Oasis WERE only good for two albums but are coming back (ish). It doesn't really matter to me anyway 'cos I'm going to see them on July 6th anyway! (One day before my birthday)
Radiohead on the other hand (as I'm sure Steve will agree with me ), have made five superb albums, each one completely different from the other! tongue.gif" border="0

I'd still try and catch Oasis live, but they have been hit with being too good too soon. Nothing else they've done matches up to 'whats the story' or 'definately maybe' and ok, earlier on there weren't just two good albums, the B-sides were awesome, 'good to be free' and 'Acquiese' are great songs.
Saw Radiohead at South Park last year, fantastic. I am going to Glasto this year, at least 1 of the 140,000 people there will be a Chesham fan. Will probably also catch the New Order gig at Finsbury Park.
As for Led Zep, Robert Plant is touring again, I think their best album is either Led Zep 2 or 4, both not too bad.

Nobody ever mentions "Physical Graffiti" when talking about Led Zeppelin - their best album in my humble opinion. Still not a patch on "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida", though.
Ironically, The Who (whom I voted for) only did one album that would describe as "great" ("Who's Next"), but you can assemble a collection of sogs of theirs which compares more than favourably with anyone, whether on the list or not (I won't go into details - suffice to say that "Substitute" didn't even appear on a studio album untilthey started churning out the "greatest hits").

Oasis only made 2 good albums?

By Oasis' standards, no Be Here Now and Standing on the shoulders of giants are not as good as their first two albums, but if they had been released by another group they would be by far their best albums.

Noel had two weeks to write all the songs for Be Here Now, and off the whole album there are probably two or three songs that I skip when listening to the cd, no more than that.

Radiohead's style is like Marmite, you'll either love it or hate it. I choose to love it, Q chose Radiohead as the best British Band of the last 15 years and OK Computer as the best album of all time, but I don't like Q very much. Funny old life.
There are some great bands not mentioned yet:
Pink Floyd

The Beatles (maybe more pop than rock)

The Smiths

The Jam

The Clash

The Rolling Stones

Stone Roses

REM

The Doors
Just thought some of these lads might deserve a mention too grin.gif" border="0

Yes, on reflection I should have put Pink Floyd and The Rolling Stones in place of Black Sabbath. Still think Dire Straits are worthy of a place and the Beatles are more pop than rock (as Steve P says). Can't say I ever rated Springsteen apart from one or two tracks but each to their own, eh?

I like U2, but they really aren't of the same status of Led Zep, The Who or Oasis, what they are is consistently very good and probably one of the best live acts in the world today. I also didn't think much of their last effort.
Status Quo, is a no, we all know gonna get with them. The Kinks were very good, but probably didn't produce as much quality music as some of these artists. Fleetwood Mac were ok, shouldn't be in a rock poll, they started of as a blues outfit, a very good one but not a great rock band.
Is say vote Zep, which is what I said originally, though if Pink Floyd were up there too I would have to think about it.
