Seems to be soaring although the police and government would have us believe otherwise.

Another young woman stabbed to death last night in south london,days after a 16 year old was stabbed to death in north london.

The police simply don't have any control of the streets and all this namby pamby policing over the last 15 years has meant that the youth of today are simply not scared of them and the sentences the courts are handing out.

Here it is simply

If you carry a knife - 8 years in prison

If you carry a gun -15 years in prison

If you use a knife - life behind bars

Kill with a knife - life behind bars without parole

same for a gun

pretty hardline but would cut the amount of violent attacks overnight

Things like glassing etc should carry a minimum of 2 years inside,with more for serious wounding & death

and the death penalty to be brought back for murder when there is no doubt!

I note that there was a march yesterday in Islington to mark the terrible death of Ben Kinsella however I wonder what good these marches do and what notice people take of them, Urchin Mentalist is right in that there should be a zero tolerance implemented with immediate effect as this will be the only solution to the knife and gun crime epidemic on our streets.

it goes to show the power of something like facebook.On sunday night 2 people said they would march for ben,by tuesday morning over 1000 people attended the event.

Imagine what the size of the crowd would of been had they done it for saturday coming.

Personally i feel that a march organized properly on a set date in London would put so much pressure on the governement that they would have to change their policies including stopping and searching which they no longer do.And when they do re introduce stop and searches they must make sure that they are to the people who are most likely to carry weapons.Teenagers black and white in london and the rest of the country and if people start complaining then tough,don't hang around looking menacing.

It all goes back to the fact we have scum breeding scum and until that issue is resolved and the real scum parents are stopped having kids or have their kids taken away then it will be hard to resolve.

I hear today that two french students have been brutally stabbed to death in New cross.Is anyone safe in this country anymore???

We all appreciate that things are rapidly changing in this country - the question is .................how far are we as 'civilised society' willing to go to ensure that Government listens to the 'common man' and makes the changes, to law, necessary to ensure a safer environment for us all

In the late 19th and early 20th century, London was a far more violent place. This is well documented in diaries of the time, and police records held in New Scotland Yard and Old Scotland Yard

 

The murder / rape / violent crime rate was 10x that of today.

 

there was a brutal police force and the death penalty.

 

In the current climate, all crime os reported and all serious crime, makes the front page of the national papers, which means it's highlighted and more at the forefront of the public's mind.

 

People carrying knives is nothing new, a ban is hard to enforce. For example, will chef's risk 7 years in jail, going to their job with their knives ?

 

There is no point locking people up, unless you have a remedy to the root problem, why do people carry knoves in the first place ?

Agree with that , but we were not alive in those days, and they did not have the technology we have today cctv and the like, so someone has to get off their ar5e and do something about it instead worring about their expenses............

London was a brutal place back in the 1800's but many many people lived in extreme poverty then with nothing to live on but what they could beg rob and steal from others,many of these brutal crimes like the rippers etc could never be solved due to the lack of evidence that we actually have today.

Plus,back then many people were still uneducated idiots who didn't know better.

Today although some are uneducated,they know exactly what they are doing and do it as some sort of gang culture.

Also it is ok saying things were worse back then but most of the 20th century things were actually alot alot better and have steadily become worse

I do think stanley kubricks clockwork orange is actually becoming more than just a cult film that was banned,it is actually becoming a realisation.

Police have only just released details of a 17 year old man found burned to death tied to a tree in Great Yarmouth.

Apparantly the youth was tied to a tree,forced to drink petrol and then set alight.3 People have been arrested.

And this is in great yarmouth,not an inner city.

This country is seriously f**ked!
