Went to Hanworth v Spelly today. Was expecting Spelly to be poor, but they were good first half. Knocked it about nicely and lively up front, with Villa looking a bit out of sorts. But Spelly didn't take their chances and having only 11 players available you felt that could be costly as the game went on. So it proved with the 2nd half a different story and once the 1st Villa goal went in, they didn't really look like getting back into it and Villa were comfortable 2-0 winners in the end. Villa pitch looked great, even at the end!

Went to Worcester Park v Epsom Athletic.

Following a superb egg burger and cup of tea, the game came to life and Park should have been out of site at half time (2-0).

Epsom got one back but Park ran out easy 6-1 winners (it might well have been double that).

Good crowd, awful weather and a champagne moment.   :D

Ref shouts play on after a foul and Park score. Ref says (quite loudly) get in there, simply praising himself for a good advantage decision which was misheard by the visiting bench as a well done to Park. Quite funny.

Lots of CCL faces here in a crowd of 60 plus and all under cover.

Much needed morning out after our game at Chessy was called off which cleared yours truly's alcoholic fog pretty well.

Think it was a Crichlow father and son running the lines too!

The report from our win over Raynes Park Vale is here:

http://www.eefconline.co.uk/Fix2015.16-12.html

Once we got going, aided by one of those comedy own goals, we looked very good and Vale had little to offer as a result.

In their defence it was our best performance of the season and hopefully this is the normal level we will reach in which case we will finish in the top half. Not bad for a team that played an outfield player in goal really, no it wasn't Dale Marvell!

Tough game next in the Vase with a trip to Horsham. Throw in Erith and B in the Cup and Dorking Wanderers in the SSC and it appears that the draw gods don't like us this season! Even Banstead our League Cup opponents look reinvigorated.

Who just happened to win again yesterday, thrashing Chipstead 5 - 0.

Are you looking forward to that one in the SCC then, Rich  ??

Many other games to worry about first JR! The Surrey Senior Cup is probably just below the FA Cup in our priorities, and we're already out of that :)

Chipstead Manager resigned on Saturday and any step four team that loses to a team that finished rock bottom of the old Kent League is going to be low on confidence right now, so the last thing they needed was a trip to DFCW.

Chipstead may well be down with all of us again next season if they keep going at this rate, but a new manager will bring new players and it is very early so there is plenty of time to solve things there.

  • 2 weeks later...

As I've just said on another thread on this forum, I've had an enforced 5 days away from fast internet so have had to spend some time catching up on things..

HOWEVER  -  I see that Wanderers are getting plenty of great write-ups in our local press.

Young Pagey in particular.
