I was not slagging off Ben Abbey......how is calling him a Monumental striker slagging him off.......it was a play on words of ABBEY and Monument.....some people........get a flag behind your name and you lose your sense of humour!

I have to admit,every time i get into any kind of rhythmn slagging off abbey at games,he starts to play marvellously.

so,i praise him and he turns to rat sht!

I swear he can hear my mutterings and just wants to prove me wrong!!

Dont slag him or any of the players off on match days full stop, try to encourage them instead, you may find it helps

I agree slagging players doesn't help. I am sure they do their best on the day and we all have 'off' days and maybe a bit of encouragement is what is needed to turn their off day around. Apart from which it makes other people feel better than just listening to a lot of meaningless abuse. You have plenty of opportunity afterwards to offer constructive criticism if you have any useful input you can put it on here. I was really impressed with W.S.M. supporters they kept cheering their team on even when they were two down and they had the prospect of a long journey home and look how it ended up! Of course we all have a quiet moan now and again, but that is different to shouting out abuse at players who can't defend themselves. Some of you really do put some very useful criticism on here but you also praise when it is deserved. Unfortunately there is a minority who will never be satisfied.

Mutterings being the operative word in my quote.I have never ever shouted abuse at any fleet player apart from the unstoppable groan of dissapointment now and again(knee jerk reaction)
I was not one of the large minority who cheered dover,and have never joined in any chanting aimed at fordy,abbey,duku,or drury,all of which I have heard whilst at the ground this season.

Lets hope some of those others read these last quotes and learn something from them then ! As Vera said the encouragement can turn a players bad day around and that is what we all want.

Funny how this thread has turned around from being an inquiry as to Baptiste's transfer fee!!

It has to be said though how can you ever expect a positive reaction from any players with negative remarks being hurled at them, it can be water off a ducks back to a few, and I bet it is a few.

I remember Bobby Dudman getting a lot of stick from certain sections of the crowd, mainly because he was not the quickest but he could shield the ball really well, and it was extremely difficult to rob him of the ball he'd hold it and release it the right moment, I don't think the critics really affected him a lot but it sure got on my tits.
