Money grabbing moo.

The judgement recognised that Ray Parlour's income would "plummet" in his mid-30s and his ex-wife would need to save an estimated £294,000 a year from her initial maintenance.

Has the judgement overestimated how much money 35-year-old footballers earn? How much are they expecting him to earn in the 2008-9 season? I think they should have ordered a review after one or a maximum of two years, and not after four years.

If I were him, I'd finish my playing days abroad and out of Europe in a tax free state, earn a pile of cash and keep it in off shore accounts so that the greedy cow can't get her mouldy hands on it.

I didn't read about this is great detail but it seems to me to be a fundementally flawed decision and is frankly quite outraegous. It is not acceptable for one person to be given a meal ticket for life at another's expense.

The principle of English divorce law is that the matrimonial net assetss are divided fairly between the partners, according to their needs. This is why the wife tends to get the house, becuase any children tend to stay with her (but not always). Typicallt the husband would pay maintenance for the children until they are 18 but would get a proportionally larger share of any other assets. Of course there very often aren't any other assets, and every case is different and many men feel (justifiably) hard done by.

I can see no justification for future earnings to be taken into accout after the break.

I would advise any young man contemplating matrimony to re-consider, it's a very dangerous one sided contract to enter into.

First it was womens lib, then political correctness, and now women steaming all they can get out of a fella !

She says she deserves this dosh because she kept him on the 'Straight-and-Narrow' and away from booze and loose women.

EXCUSE ME, but if a bloke wants to stay clear of booze and loose women, then he will. He doesn't need some gold digging bint, with the morals of a prozzie to do it for him.

Just goes to prove that this country HAS gone to the dogs - [color:"red"] LITERALLY !!

The decision was for one person to be given a meal ticket for four years. After that the arrangements will be reviewed in the expectation that the young man will no longer be earning so much money, and that the young lady will have been able to invest her income, which she knows will be much less in four years' time, in her own future.

I do not see that this is outrageous.

Quite right Mark !

I was talking to a 'legal-eagle' this morning. It seems the court judgement is quite clever in that it says she is entitled to the money, no matter where he earns it, OR WHERE HE BANKS IT !

Could be interesting if he goes abroad and banks it 'off-shore', as previously suggested.

Perhaps Mark, she should stay on her f@nny and earn it that way. Probably she would earn more an hour that way. Her morals certainly seem to imply this would be the case !

I think she will pay the price for this eventually. After all she had a very generous agreement anyway and without all this pulicity which I think is more to her detrement than to his. The children may well hold this against her when they are older. Whatever has happened betweeen the two parents it is possible that the children still love their Dad. It often happens that way with children. I wonder what life was like with her anyway if she can be like this when she was being well provided for anyway. At least it is unlikely any other man will get involved with her in a true relationship unless it is for HER money!!!

Well done Vera, you have solved one mans problem marry her, divorce her and then go to court to be nicely looked after and there was me waiting for the lottery, this sounds much easier and more likely to be achievable. <img src="/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

aahh divorce.. truly entertaining stuff..

if you both got married with fk all and she stays at home n brings up the kids then i see no reason not to give her half, and if she starts work straight away pay something to even up the difference a bit, for a few years , but of course circumstances get in the way...

mind you if you have to give her half and the lazy cow wont go the work as she isnt 'accustomed to such manner' then she should have to come round and clean the blokes house n do his washing for 'half' her free time as well then
