York City

Played OK today. York were probably the better side and Danny had to make three good saves in the first half. Although they had a lot of possesion York didn't create much and we defended very well although I felt at times we were guilty of giving the ball away too cheaply and this put us under unneccesary pressure.

We had a couple of half chances to maybe nick the game. In the first half Ollie had a snap shot that the keeper did well to save and Junior was unlucky not to get on the end of a great cross by Duffers.

We started the second half quite positively with Johnny Keeling and Duffers providing some good crosses. York though got back on top and we had to survive a period of real pressure. Luckily Gav and Wardy held firm.

We could have nicked it at the end. Ollie had a shot deflected wide then on his league debut young Jason Hallett nearly made it a fairytale start latching on to a through ball but flicking it straight at the keeper.

In the end a hard earned point. It wasn't pretty but we're proving a tough side to beat. Gav and Wardy were outstanding and despite a few ropey moments Dom Sterling seems to be improving with every game.

York were a league side this time last year so to get a point is a decent result.

Bring on Leigh RMI next week!!

Couldnt agree more, a very well earned point. York had the better chances but we held firm. Wardy and Gav were Unbelievable at the back, wardy just nicking our MOTM in my opinion.

Funniest part of the day was when it started p***ing down and watching everybody running into the seating area and there was about 15 of us that stayed out in it and got drenched.

According to the york PA, there were 107 Travelling fans, considering how far it was thats an impressive turn out & well down to everybody that made the trip.

I was talking to one of the stewards before the game and said I would be happy with a point - my wish came true and although it wasn't a pretty display of football I suppose I have to be happy.

The team had to work hard to get a share of the spoils. Danny made a save in the second half where the ball just hit his shins from a Paul Groves effort and flew off - which apparently Danny didn't even see. We weathered a long period in the second half where we were under a lot of pressure and could have nicked it at the end when Hallett couldn't quite get it past the keeper.

We looked rather tired after 65-70 minutes and ended up under a lot of pressure from York which didn't look that dangerous. Felt we certainly needed a fresh pair of legs - not sure about taking Keeling off - but bringing Goodwin into midfield I felt was needed. Gregors did look tired when he was subbed - and it was nice to see Jason given the opportunity. I felt that Junior covered a lot of ground yesterday and looked strong for most of the game, although the opportunities weren't really there. The back four soaked up a lot of pressure and worked very hard. Felt midfield were playing a little to deep - especially Sedgemore who, again, I think started to tire in the second half.

Good away support - 107 (and a trumpet )

Nice ground at York and it was nice of them to open the stand where the seats were situated when it began to rain - used by most - except a few hardy souls.

Did hear someone having a go at Dominic after he made two howlers in quick succession - they were silly mistakes but the verbal he got from this fella I didn't feel was warranted and probably didn't help his confidence at all.

Fingers crossed for next saturday, but we should be able to get all three points, Mints making a comeback possibly or am I being to optimistic?

Totally agree guys, this was not pretty to watch but you achieved what you set out to do. it was obvious from the beginning that you came for a point, but would try 'nick' it on the break!

Can see why you do well away from home, a good defence & a good keeper (even if he's a bit lucky at times )combined with a fairly quick/hard working forward. Not sure of his name, but I mean the black forward who seemed to be at the heart of every attack you had.

Really liked the way your goalkeeper interacted with our mascot & fans, great to find someone who's not afraid of a bit of banter - good stuff Danny, keep it up .

I wouldn't have used the word "interacted" - bending your Lion mascot over and taking from behind isn't "interacting" - it's called a lot of things - but interacting isn't one of them

Yep - your right Danny is a top keeper and has the right attitude

JUST like Northwich Victoria and Leigh RMI before them, inferior visitors Canvey Island left Bootham Crescent with a point on Saturday after York City's failure to display a cutting edge in front of goal.

Wot the F**k is Dave Fletts report on about!

"INFERIOR visitors Canvey Island" - I know we had a rather poor game but inferior is taking the P***

He then continues to compare us with Leigh and Northwich (No disrespect) - We have yet to play them so I may be putting a bock on this - but we are above York for a reason - look at our away record - we only have one defeat and we don't tend to leak goals - especially against a side who is failing to put it in the net. If we had Mints and Lee back I think Inferior Canvey would have got a better result against an even bigger inferior York side.

"At the other end, Canvey rarely threatened with heavyweight striker Neil Gregory lacking the pace to trouble City and non-League journeyman Junior MacDougald appearing more intent on delaying free-kicks than troubling Stockdale's goal."

Dont suppose greggors or Junior will be happy with their descriptions either!!
