Should we be holding suspects for 90 days without trial?... Or is Blair wrong and it should be 28?...

Are the civil libities of people being eroded in this country?...

Are we moving towards too much state control?...

I would go for 28 days with the option of 90 days if the Courts feel there is sufficent probability that national security is at risk.If you give the police 90 days without any input from the Courts then civil liberties of some citizens will no doubt be abused. Also the police will use up all the 90 days on innocent people just to be on the safe side.

Well it is an improvement isn't it? Internment - as oppossed to the shooting in the head of the "suspicious". If the police have insufficient evidence they should not be arresting anyone. The law should remain unchanged.

As right-wing as I am over things like terrorism, I think 90 days is far too long.

It equates to a nominal six month sentence with full remission.

If H.M.G. can't get a case together, in say 30 days, then they should get another job !

However - There is a certain bay on the Island of Cuba..............

Thw way you have to look at it, is consider how you would feel if you were wrongly suspected of terrorism and you were held for 90 days without trial. You wouldn't like it would you?

Terrorism has only ever been defeated in one manner and that is from the inside, infiltrated teams using hugely brave men and women
The other issue is of course that those same people got (get) rid of terrorist more often than not with a bullet in the head
None of us would vote for those tactics used in our name but we sleep a lot sounder because of them

Must admit, 'This Week', on BBC last night, with Andrew Neil, Clare Short and Ken Clarke was VERY interesting.

Truth is, Bliar couldn't give a sh1t, and why should he ?? He's already said he's going soon, so what's a defeat to him, other than a small dent in his rather large right-wing ego ?
