Terry Back Latest: A Close Shave for Wisbech Town

BUSINESSMAN Terry Back has quit as director of Wisbech Town Football Club, less than a day after taking the job - because he said he was snubbed from the position of chairman.

 

Mr Back, 41, from London, was expecting to be appointed to the role at the club's annual meeting on Monday, but the job was given to 51-year-old Paul Brenchley.

 

Mr Back, a former Wisbech manager, who failed to attend the meeting due to work commitments, then quit the club the following day.

 

He said: "I could have made a fortune for Wisbech and taken them up to a higher level of football.

 

"I had plans to bring some proper business people to the board and to market the club properly but a few people felt threatened by it all. You can't run a club by selling raffle tickets."

 

Mr Back has previously been chairman of Enfield, Ayelsbury Waltham Forest, and he runs the businesses All Sports In Schools and Soccer In Schools.
