Those 18 chasers are the riders who emerged from the original break and the second chase group that joined at one point on the climb. With some riders slipping back into the peloton, it's down to 18:

The peloton is slowing and several riders dropped on the climb have rejoined. The gap to the two leaders is now up to 4:00. The chase group is at 1:40 and some riders dropped on the descent are trying to rejoin that group as well.

 

The laughing group, however, is well OTB ... the sprinters gruppetto is now at 11:30.
