For me, apart from the application of the laws and match control, I would love to see a bigger weighting assigned to communication. This was one area where the referee in the Chessington v Windsor game last Saturday was absolutely brilliant at. Probably the best communicator I have seen this season.

Couldn't agree more, though communication also includes body language, signals (arm and whistle) and communication with assistant referees as well as with players, club officials and indeed spectators. Depends sometimes on how much players respond but the best referees are the ones who communicate their decisions effectively. Again, I would say that this is a skill one develops, knowing what to say, and when, and is not always a strong point of younger or less experienced match officials.

Some choice subjects there.

Answer to question 1. Do a Badshot 3.Most defenders at this level could not hit a barn door, let alone a forward in full flight 2.Was the most interesting, the ref turning a blind eye, even though he heard the remark? I CAN LIPREAD YOU KNOW!!!!
