as we all know just because you have spent a lot of money it does not guarantee success the leagues are littered with clubs that have spent lots of money and have not made it

Yes as you say we all know that.

Look at our division and all the clubs that spent a fortune trying to get promoted and only 2 clubs made it.

Are people on this forum aware of the fiasco which is currently taking place regarding the Non-League play off Final at Wembley between Southend and Oldham ?
About a month ago I decided that I was going to go to this game, regardless of who would be playing, and was  especially pleased that Southend made it to final so I could see Leon playing at Wembley.
A match against Oldham had both sets of fans on their respective forums suggesting the game would break the current attendance record for this match, which is I believe about 47,000.
Southend and Oldham fans reckoned there would be between 55-60,000  at Wembley.
The second semi-final was on Wednesday evening, so everyone expected ticket details to be announced the next day, Thursday.
No details were published on Thursday.
Friday, yesterday dawned, and still there was no news  from the clubs about ticket arrangements except a message on their websites asking fans to be patient.
Then finally, at 9pm last night, it was announced that there was to be a restriction on the number of tickets each club was to receive.
Each club was to receive only 17,500 tickets !

This isn't a first batch of tickets being released.

That's it.

The delay to any news being published was because the two clubs were trying desperately behind the scenes  to get the authorities who have decided on this ridiculous situation to improve the number of tickets available.
Why is this happening?
Because of health and safety considerations because Wembley Park station is closed all day matchday for engineering works.
This news is causing untold anguish to fans on  their respective clubs fans forums.
I'm angry this is happening and I'm obviously not even a fan of either club.
You've got a 90,000 capacity stadium that is going to have a restricted attendance for a non-league match.
They have known this match was going to take place on June 1st for nearly a year now I guess.

The authorities didn't for a moment think that two well supported teams might get through to the final?
The two clubs have been told they can have 9,000 more tickets each, but only if these 9,000 extra people travel on official coaches, and therefore not use public transport to get to the game.
This is what's  happening at the moment and is in my eyes an absolute scandal and a disgrace.
80,000 fans go to watch the rugby at Twickenham, and that venue only has Twickenham railway station as a public transport hub for attendees.
There are still plenty of other ways to get to Wembley even if Wembley Park is closed.
If I can't get a ticket for the game so be it, not a problem considering the situation, but the thought that fans who have a proper connection with the two clubs might not get one is diabolical !
This farce just about sums up this country now.

While it's frustrating for the two clubs (it's the only final that would have produced this problem)

Considering the last 5 at Wembley (excluding COVID finals) have had attendances of 18k, 16k, 8k, 38k and 23k - I'm not surprised that Wembley and the National League didn't have it planned any higher capacity wise

And if the station works have to happen around now, which other weekend do they pick - Wembley is busy this time of year

April 27th/28th - FA Cup Semis

May 3rd/4th - Bank Holiday weekend (no Wembley event but lots elsewhere in London)

11th - Non League Finals Day

17th/18th FA Cup Finals (Mens & Womens)

This weekend - EFL play off finals

Next weekend - VNL Play Off

June 7th - Rugby League Finals

June 15th onwards there's gigs & music events every weekend

Yes, I suppose it is a little "frustrating" for the two clubs.

If I go on to their forums and tell them that I'm sure they'll understand.

I mean it's only a game which will get one of them back into the Football League.

Nothing important.

Blimey mate.

Lucky you're not a Southend or Oldham fan.

The two National League play-off finals involving Exeter City I saw at Wembley both attracted more than 40,000 spectators. Their later League 2 play-off final only attracted 23,000. I sometimes think, heretically I know, that the footballing authorities have only a limited grasp of what they're doing when it comes to managing "non-league" football. And of course rugby union fans are all ladies and gentlemen whilst football fans are just oiks.

HR,

If I understand what you are saying correctly, both clubs are effectively being offered 26,500 tickets each.

They have both had average league match attendances of around 7,000, so aren’t all fans with a genuine connection to these clubs guaranteed a ticket?

Also, from what you are saying aren’t those 53,000 tickets more than 10% higher than the best ever National League play-off final?

The last final of two clubs with average attendances over 8,000 was Notts County v Chesterfield in 2023, & that had an attendance of 38,000.

So, in my personal opinion, it’s all a storm in a teacup.
