Well Done Ben

Recommended Posts

I know that Ben Abbey has wound up must Fleet fans with his performances until recent games.

But a big well done to him today, looked very lively when he came on at half time, and contiually caused them problems. And even better managed to wind up all the home fans, whom were then baiting him for most of the half.

But it was he who left the pitch with the biggest smile.

Well done Ben.

Well done from me too, Ben. I was a big critic, but I don't mind eating humble pie when proved wrong. You have done that, and recently I have shouted myself hoarse cheering you on.

To be fair to Ben, he doesnt have a bad goalscoring record with us - 7 goals in 20 appearances, and 11 of those have been as sub, so assuming (for sake of argument), half a game for each sub appearance, gives 7 goals in 12 appearances.

He still could be sharper at times, though - witness the 2 misses against Margate - one at their place and then an almost identical one at our ground, where he dragged the ball wide of the far post when faced only by the keeper.

Still, as has been said, he is developing as the season goes on, as are many of the squad - to some extent, it's due, I suspect, to the fact that we've had to build the team during the season proper, rather than through pre-season, and its taken time for Andy to get to know everyones strengths and weaknesses, and for players to gain understandings of each other.
