The substitute goalkeeper for Bury Town that day was Nick Pope, now with Premiership side Burnley and likely to be in the England squad for the World Cup later this year. It just goes to show that everyone has to start somewhere, I wonder whether we have recently played against any future star who is starting out on their career. On the surface a strange one in the sense that he has impressed in league trials and for Birmingham City U23's but was only on the bench for Stratford?? Curtis Posted April 11, 2018 Share Posted April 11, 2018 He scored after 14 minutes in the under 23 game at Cardiff, and apparently impressed and was praised by Birmingham manager Richard Beale. There will occasionally be players progressing from this level to the Football League..... a few years ago it was Ben Gladwin who played for Marlow, and then went on to QPR, Swindon & now Blackburn.
