I see from the Sports Shots website that Buckingham Athletic's excellent supremo Neil Griffiths has decided to sadly step down at the end of the season after two years at the helm at Stratford Fields, Club Chairman Tony Checkley is inviting applicants for the vacant post with immediate effect so as the Club can hit the ground running next term. It says everything about Neil when he approached Mr Checkley last week and said he had decided to step down and wanted to give the Club as much time as possible to find a suitable replacement, unlike, for example, Mark Ducket at Eynesbury Rovers who walked out of the door in January without even saying goodbye to Chairman Matt Plumb after four years at Hall Road:

A messege from Buckingham Athletic Chairman Tony Checkley earlier this week:

I never thought as Chairman I would ever be in this position but It is with regret that the Buckingham Athletic Sports & Social Club committee have had to make the tough decision in closing the doors as from today until further notice.

All the old Sports Shots links to match reports, video clips and photos were lost when they had unforeseen problems with their website last year and many included Buckingham Athletic games from the start of the campaign, here is a pre-season friendly from Tuesday 23 July with Crawley Green at Stratford Fields with some particularly good photos:

Nice mugshots of the 2017/2018 Buckingham Athletic playing squad in a campaign where the Club didn't really pull up any trees in the SSML Division One albeit finishing in a fairly respectable seventh place. It was in the Cup competitions that they faired better and beat Bedford and AFC Hayes in the FA Vase before bowing out 6-2 at Bracknell Town, they were unfortunate to be drawn away to eventual League Champions Southall in the Division One Cup Second Round going down 6-3 as well as 3-1 at London Colney in the First Round of the Challenge Trophy. After beating Unite MK, Stewkley and Penn & Tylers Green in the Berks & Bucks FA Senior Trophy they finally lost 1-0 to Marlow United in a tight affair at Stratford Fields however reached the Buckingham Senior Charity Cup Final losing 2-0 to Daventry Town on home soil:

Scott Reynolds has been handed the reins at Stratford Fields by Chairman Tony Checkley as successor to Neil Griffiths, I wonder if the great man can repeat the success he had at Bell Close with Leighton Town:
