v Yeovil (away)

Recommended Posts

Excellent effort from the team tonight.

First half Yeovil had two one on ones with Dan Lincoln who kept us in the game by pulling off a couple of blinding saves at the players feet.

We also hit the bar twice from two headers so an excellent first half effort.

Second half Yeovil took the lead with a simple ball into the heart of our defence and with Temi off the park after getting treatment for a head injury we failed to clear our lines.

So a stupid rule, which should be done away with has very probably cost us the first goal which was always going to be a crucial turning point in the game.

Yeovil's second goal came about when a player was too quick for Jammers cutting across him without a challenge and slotting the ball home from inside the area.

We then pulled a goal back with the best goal of the night when from a square ball outside the area Dan Bayliss hit an unstoppable shot into the top corner.

Their third goal came via a penalty when a long ball up field was allowed to bounce putting us in all sorts of trouble, this led to a Yeovil player being given a free run into our area culminating in a challenge from Jammers judged to be a foul.

On the night I thought we put in a very decent performance and there's no doubt Yeovil knew they'd been in a tough game.

What a great effort from us tonight despite everything going against us, we were always in the game and at 2-1 we looked like getting something but then came that penalty.

It goes without saying that we don't get the rub of the green when we play these other clubs and we certainly didn't get that last night.

The officials gave us nothing from the penalty we should have had which resulted in Ty being injured, their number 24 somehow staying on the pitch after a horrific tackle and some bizarre bookings and decisions. There is one incident that I saw last night and that was the moment after they had scored the penalty when the linesman turned to us and gave a little wink, wish they would just concentrate on the game.

Anyway it was a great night and maybe one day things will go our way.

Hoping the injuries are all ok.

Not too sure on that, we certainly had our fair share of luck against Worthing last week!

Lots of comments from Yeovil fans on twitter saying we were one of the best sides they've seen this season and applauding our fans. Up the Rebels!

Having looked at the replays I made the disallowed goals/sending off decisions mostly correct.

Bigger the home crowds, the louder the fans appeals are, possibly the more likely a referee is to give a decision….. especially when matches have 3,000 fans when these officials are usually in front of crowds of 1,000.

It shouldn’t happen but it always has been part of home advantage.

Players missing last night were Leon and Slavi.

A new player on the bench was midfielder/striker Daniel Idiakhoa.

Looking at his CV Daniel signed a contact at Watford a few seasons ago, he was then released and signed for Hitchin where he's been for the last two seasons.

Whether he's a permanent signing or not is any ones guess.

I thought the rule was:-

a one match suspension for five yellows in the first 23 league matches (our web-site has Scott on 4 league match yellows at that stage)

a two match suspension for 10 yellows in the first 37 league matches (our web-site has Scott on 8 league match yellows in the 30 league matches so far)

As you say, he did get two yellows in the FA Cup, but I thought that didn’t count toward league match suspensions.

With that level of arrogance one can only hope he fails to get promotion & is sacked.

He's been around a long time and has plenty of "previous".
