Looking ahead to next year......

....where would we improve the team? I personally think a 15-20 goal a season striker would do nicely. A nice right-back who can deliver quality balls into the box - Prothers??! And a sound and very realiable centre-half and a ball-winner in midfield. With regards to last 2, I feel without McKimm we lack someone who will go in and win the ball, breaking legs if necessary, no-one apart from him appears to have that "take everything or nothing" attitude. Shearer is great but I just feel he may make mistakes in games which will prove costly. Someone like Moore would be a great addition.

P.s. Duku has to go.

We have a 15-20 goal a season striker in essendoh, gledhill is a quality rightback who provides goal-providing crosses. I would play prothers in midfield,if we get him. Our discipline is poor as it it,without starting to break legs.perkins and owen do their share of tackling, and ive never seen gledhill wimp out of a challenge yet. according to the reporter he fancies himself as a bit of a "wise", so the passion and fire is there.
Shearer and moore have been very reliable this year. They have turned out some great performances together and alongside duku, although it must be said, duku has had a poor season, with many stupid "maddix" style mistakes.

Roy Essandoh solves the '15-20 goals a season striker', especially as he's on a two year contract, but how about someone to work along side him. Manny Omoyinmi is only with us till the end of the season, so I think Ben Abbey and Jamie Pinnock would work well with Roy. Short and tall, goals scored high and low.

If Robin Trott can come back from his injury problems, he would, based on his early season composed performances, make a good partner for Chris Moore.

Francis has, as we all agree, struggled this year, for whatever reason, and Lee Shearer's performances blow hot and cold rather too often.

Whether we keep Manny or not will obviously partly depend on his performances in his month with us, and partly on whether he could accept a drop to part time football, if Oxford decide not to renew his contract (which seems to be the suggestion on their messageboards). If he performs as he did at Aldershot, I'd be very happy to keep him, but I'm not sure that performances such as that on Saturday would be enough to convince Andy that he's worth taking on permanently.

given shearers injury problems this year i think he and moore have formed a good partnership you will proberly find he has turned out for the team when he was below par showing how committed to the cause he is but having said that we still need a center half to improve compertition for places and also as cover for any suspensions we are bound to get over the coarse of the season

we also need a nother tough tackling midfielder

and obviously a 20-25 goals a season man

then we will have a solid looking squad tthe only thing that will hold us back is being part time

I thought he was only on a month's loan - or maybe you know something we don't?

As for Roy, I don't think we can be sure yet that he will be a 15-20 goal a season man, given his erratic scoring record in the past. Admittedly, from what we've seen so far he's certainly got the potential to do it... but for now I'm reserving judgement.

If we are looking to build a squad for next season then I feel we need a minimum of 18 players and ideally 20 players my squad would be

GK Paul Wilkerson Charlie Mitten

DEF Chris Moore Lee Gledhill Lee Shearer Matt Lee Justin Skinner Robin Trott Francis Duku AN Other (cover at Left back)

MID Steve McKimm Steve Perkins Andy Drury Lee Protheroe Rob Owen Moussa Sidibe

FOR Roy Essendoah Rob Haworth James Pinnock AN Other (prolific goalscorer)

If we have to reduce to 18 I would unfortanately let Francis go and use Matt Lee as cover for both full back positions although this leaves us with little cover with left footed players.

What does everyone else think.
