Serious comments about yesterday .

Recommended Posts

I've been going to Canvey for a few years and now take the kids.

I left at full time yesterday so didn't see any trouble, although I did hear the stewards taking about someone who had been ejected standing outside and throwing stones into the crowd, which I think you'll agree is not clever.

I've never seen or heard of any real trouble before, even after last year's Aldershot game when they gloated and invaded the pitch at the final whistle.

What I have noticed this season is that the language behind the goal is deteriorating, and whilst I don't object to the swearing and general abuse, it must be put into context. It's okay if its humourous or general, but just to stand there and shout c*** repeatedly at someone is pathetic.

If we are going to prosper in the Conference we need to build a broader fan base and continue as a family club. Yesterday was only one game, but lets not make what happened regular occurence, eh?

At last a sensible post on here. I was still coming off the terraces when the incidents happened so really cant comment on who was to blame.

It is a shame that such a wonderful season had to end on a sour note.

Have to agree with Yellow Bungle regarding the swearing at the games it has got really bad.

Ok its a football match you have to expect a certain amount of swearing but there seems to be some Canvey fans who spend the whole game slagging the ref and the opposing keeper off.

Next season lets spend more time really getting behind the team than slagging of the ref. It is going to be a lot tougher in the conference and the lads need all the encouragement we can give them plus there will be a much larger away following who are bound to make plenty of noise so lets really get behind the team.

Not suprising really when the manager is as bad as the fans.At a recent game when we werent playing very well I called out to Jeff King as the half time whistle went (shake them up Jeff!)

The elegant Mr King replied F**K OFF YOU C**T,I also had my children with me as well as quite a few in the crowd, what a good example he sets for them.

Serious Comment About Yesterday Now That I've Calmed Down !

Your Stewards Can't Control Your Ground ! To Be Honest Most Of Them Aren't Fit Enough To Steward !

I've Decide Not To Ring The Club About My Incident With One Of Your Stewards As I'm Sure They Will Only Say That We Started The Trouble ! When Infact It Was A Woman Outside Your Club House Who Told Us ' Go Away If Your Gonna Start Trouble ' When All We Did Was Try And Get Into Your Club House To Which We Were Told We Were Welcome In Afterwards.

Your Club House Are You Having A Laugh ? My Front Room's Bigger Than That ! How Are You Gonna Deal With The Large Support From Away Sides Next Year In The Conference ?

That's All For Now !

If you were all well behaved, I agree that there's no reason you shouldn't be let in the bar. I was in there at half time and everyone seemed fairly aimable - but as I said I left before the trouble started so I'm not going to judge.

Football a passionate game, and I'm sure we don't want to lose that, so let's not blow this out of proportion.

In respect of the stewards - yes, they are volunteers and probably not up to same standard as you'd find in higher leagues, but I've always found them courteous and helpful. However, next year with teams like Shrewsbury having four figure away support, and teams like Carlisle (I can remember them in the old 1st division)having a bit of a reputation, we'll probably need to improve our situation.

This is the thing, why was the Hornchurch fans not aloud in the club house after the game? There was no trouble untill then, so it was your fans fault.

I Agree Hornchurch Boys !

As I Tried To Walk Into The Bar There Were Canvey Fans Standing As In The Door Way ! I Said Excuse Me, They Looked At Me And Looked Away Again !

Have Your Stewards Even Had Any Training ? What Was To Happen If A Proper Fight Broke Out ? Or Even A Fire In The Ground ?

Not wishing to pick holes or get slated by the Hornchurch fans as I was not there.

but, earlier in the thread, someone put about the size of Canveys clubhouse and how will they cope in the conference.

I think you'll find the higher up the ladder you go, you can not go into the home teams clubhouse anyway. Just go to Shrewsbury, Carlisle and the X Football league clubs, there rules might have or will change for Conference football, but I have gone to these League Grounds and you can not go in.

That was the situation at Southend and Colchester, members only. (Not been for a few years to a Nationwide League game, so this might of changed)

I don't want to go on and on about what happened yesterday...but here are the facts....

a/ Football is a passionate game and things are said and done often wrongly on the spur of the moment (that is when stewards etc should calm the siyuation down not incite further reaction).

b/Most of the Canvey Fans were very friendly and decent people.

b/ The stewards could not cope with what was primarily a bunch of kids yesterday and it could have got even more ugly if Hornchurch officials hadn't intervened.

c/ You are the League Champions. Well done and good luck next season.

Yeah, I have been there quite a few times, but you got to remember when I was a lad Canvey were an Essex Senior League team, they have come along way in a fairly short period of time, gone straight through the Ryman League, built the terracing behind the goal near the clubhouse and improved there ground alot, when I went to see them play an ESL game I remember that on one of the sides they had a covered terrace about the size of a bus stop.

If you consider where they have come from, i think they have done preety well. Hope none of the Iron boys see this, I will get grief for this.

Urchinboys right!

Majority of Canvey and Hornchurch fans are decent people who just wanna watch a good game of footie and have a few beers afterwards. It's the same elsewhere.

Like-minded fans will always be welcome at our club....and I'm sure vice versa. But if only us decent, genuine fans could have more influence over the "Yob element".

Good luck for next season, Canvey.

I might be popping down to take in a few of your matches when I have a "free fixture" next season. And I definately wanna take the ferry over to Gravesend when you play 'em.

Rite totally disagree with this so called "fact". The "kids" did not cause any throuble on saturday, it was the women who was a cavey fan outside the club house and the canvey fans inside who tryed to chuck the Hornchurch fans out of the club house that caused the trouble. So please do not try and put the blame on the 15 year old so called "kids", thank you.

I didn't say that you boys caused the trouble at all!! (I know better than that e.g. I was tripped up by a Canvey fan when we peacefully walked out of the stadium at the request of Gary etc) I merely said the stewards couldn't cope with the Hornchurch supporters, a lot of which were young lads and none were trouble makers!...Enough said on the subject.

Just to clarify - away fans only get into our clubhouse if the game is not segregated. After two seasons in the conference, it is fair to say more games get segregated than not so most away fans do not get to go in our clubhouse.

On the other hand, grounds like Dagenham welcome you with open arms after a 50p admission fee, as the bar is outside the ground.
