what will the holte end be singing

Feel bloody silly writing this.

However!

Not songs but repetitive chants.

I would of thought that chanting the name “Canvey Island” over and over again with 5 claps each time would sound quite good if a number sang it together. The name Canvey Island in that chant is a natural to sing, so we should do it.

Also, many years ago while watching West Ham at Ipswich when John Lyall was in charge, a repetitive chant started that went on for a good half hour.

It was “Johnny Lyall’s claret and blue army”, “Johnny Lyall’s claret and blue army” etc. One side of the stand sang it once then shut up while the other side sang. Then after 8 quiet verses, all would clap their hands and bang a drum for around 8 versus, then quiet again, then off again and so on. After a short time, it sounded really good and you could see even the quieter ones get caught up in the “beat”.

Rather than “Big Fat Jeff’s, could try “Jeffrey King’s Yellow Army”, Jeffrey King’s Yellow Army, with the same beat as above. Hopefully if enough started it, it may spread and to have that many chanting together for the Island at Villa Park would make it one of the memorable moments.

Also, if we could get these chants established and going at our home games, that may stop the other teams knockers about fan base and all that if we make enough continuous noise.

Yeah it was Bedford away. After Jeff Minton had put us 4-1 up with 30 minutes to go, we chanted non stop until the final whistle. An unbelievable night although I think the singing at Hornchurch and possibly Mangotsfield was the best this season.
