So with Gradley and McClements both reportedly leaving, presumably we will have to reach a financial settlement with them, given that their contracts were originally two-year ones. Also, will Dartford have to pay a fee for Eddie, or was his contract terminated beforehand? They certainly seem happy to have signed him anyway - although it seems to be a verbal agreement only at present...

Looking back on it, it does seem a bit surprising that we were willing to give two players who we had only just brought in two-year deals. Having said that, the club does seem to be more willing to offer longer-term deals than it used to be.

A 2 year deal has worked out well for Drury, who could have been snapped up this summer if he was out of contract. Gradley and McClements are both good players, who could well have made the grade given time. It seems Andy Ford is now going for the older experienced player now, a policy that looks like paying off. In fact, Drury is the only first team player that could be termed a youngster now.

Short sighted if you get rid of youngsters......A bit like the late 50's early 60's when all the older players retired at one time and the team struggled!

Apparently both McClements and Gradley had one year contracts, not two as originally reported.
