A 78th minute goal by wonder boy Gianni Frankis of Bowers & Pitsea was not enough to beat the powerful Army side, some of whom had flown in from Germany and Northern Ireland. Our lads played their hearts out against excellent opposition and the second half performance could have finished in a success story but it was not to be and goals from Bombardier Shaun Hale after 18 mins and Sergeant Ellis Langford five minutes from time means that the Spall Challenge Tropny went to the lads from Aldershot, so that's 2 each and 2 postponed - we look forward to Military Stadium, Aldershot next season. Well done to Barkingside Fc, Bowers & Pitsea FC, Waltham Abbey FC and Stansted FC for allowing us to see some of the best talent in the ESL !

Well done to Darran and all the lads last night. Hopefully everyone came through unscathed and will be reporting for duty at the weekend.

What a loaded question ! As an innocent bystander last night amongst a healthy crowd I would heartily agree with that sentiment . I was amazed how the "team" played as I assume they had not trained with each other. As for the question, if I mentioned any particular person.. and I am bursting to name names .... it may mean Scouts descending on his club .. and although its not going to take long before they do , I would rather leave it to the professionals to suss out who I mean. We have had some crackers convert to the Football League from the ESL ranks, Stuart Wardley, Gary Hart, Greg Berry, Trevor Putney etc etc .. Mark my words there is going to be another before the season's out and he played last night !

Rumour has it that a chap in the stand with a good view of the whole ground and said he had something to do with the league was able to count everyone in attendance and , in fact , the "official" attendance was 82. When I confronted him later to ask him how you can have a "gate" when everyone is Free he wouldn't speak to me as he had his head buried in a load of Waltham Abbey programmes !

i did not think anyone stood out that much! i can think of two players who i really enjoyed playing with last night that were very good.

i thought we played quite well considering we had not played together before. thought we could of done a bit better at keeping the ball at times.

i enjoyed it tho. good to play and meet a few familiar faces. it was a pleasure to be involved in from the manager to every player.

come on senior leaguer im sure your comments are not going to make clubs sign a player if that was the case we would all be putting our names forward!

Fair enough comment and I am sure a player is always going to read a game differently than an bystander/supporter but I have been lucky enough to have seen all the players mentioned including Tilly and , I forgot, Neil Harris as well, as raw youngsters before they moved into the FL and this person has that "special" air about them . Time will tell. !... and, by the way, it was just as much a pleasure for us fans watching you and all the squad last night !

My grandad said during the war there was an unwritten rule, that when the Germans fired we ducked, when we fired the Germans ducked, But when the yanks fired EVERY f**ker ducked...
