I love these anon plonkers,

"if Duffy hadn't found his shooting boots you would never have been in the game."

If Boylan never scored 50 goals we would not be in the conference.

If me aunty was a man she would be my uncle.

On a more serious note could we not link attendence at games to a partnership with schools/local youth clubs, like others do. I dunno maybe 30 tickets to Castlepoint school for distribution by teachers to young people who behave well or attend everyday.

Most of these kids who attend will bring a mate, buy a burger, programme.

This will help develop our fan base and the positive publicity would not hurt.

re the vic fans.. they were good value but yes that song namimg the players was tiresome.. did they do the bench as well?

as for the guy getting thrown out.. well weve all seen fans shouting stuff they shouldnt during a game with the help of uncle stella or whatever.. ive heard 'let him die' sung many a time by the canvey fans.. i dont think anyone actually means it and many people have a laugh about it.. its the base nature of footy humour.. tho waiting untill the fked player is heading towards the ambulance is taking it to new levels!

Can't remember the exact facts - but I read fairly recently on Confguide that Telford had a crowd at the beginning of Feb, I believe in excess of 3,700.

I think they organised tickets for all the local schools etc. and made the day a "carnival" type affair with transport laid on - apparently a good PR thing. They still average about 1500 in Unibond league 1.

i did like the fact that they were singing [censored] ground no fans (how original) and yet they are one of the few clubs in the leauge that cant say that, with no ground (new one still not finished) and only an average of 58 more people per game.

Surely they should be used as a punishment not a reward

Their fans definitely got behind the team with some good old singing. Thought it was funny before the game kicked off when they raised one of their green flags into the strong sea wind and it promptly flew over the fence LOL

Amazing how many clubs sing their hearts out, but don't realise that with no cover the wind blows off the estuary and they can hardly be heard at the other end.

Strange thing is they made very little noise when we played them at Witton Albion - although the fireworks probably would have drowned any noise out anyway and like us seem to make more noise when away from home.

Hope it all works out for them when they return to their new ground and more of their fans are able to attend.

A few things to Add, Jeff King does not know his best side, with nearly the season over hes still swapping players aound, and playing different formations. Saturday...Chenery in for Theobald, no reason to drop him, been playing well and is a better player than Chenery! Gregory-why does Jeff persist with him, Ok in the ryman, but just not good enough for the conference...lacks pace, mobility, and is not an attacking threat, needs to be replaced pre season with a new striker top priority! Why drop Ollie-been our best player this year and scored 10 goals from midfield, which is the most in league by a midfielder. Our Midfield of Minton, Noto, JK- all ball players, but lack presence in the middle of the park, all about 5 foot! I would have played Ollie, Sedge(who was dropped) and Mints! I find it amazing that for such a big game there were so many changes, we really need to win our home games and play our strongest side each week!

Anon, agree with what you are saying - I think one of the problems we have had all season is that we have not had a regular team.

It's probably easy to say Jeff doesn't know his strongest side - he probably still doesn't, but we as fans are not privy to information such as injuries etc. although clearly dropping Theobald for Chenners was a tad strange.

Don't agree 100% with your views on the midfield although I feel it is an area we have struggled with the most - presence is one thing but little Johnny Keeling is as tough as old boots and very often takes on the Conference big players. If our midfield has the talent it doesn't matter how big or tall they are - we want players who can play and play well at this level. They may be 5 foot tall, but hopefully their strength is playing through balls and to feet rather than jumping and contending in a midfield aerial battle. I don't necessarily agree that we have players in our current squad who stand above others at this level. We all have different views on players and at the moment I don't assume that Sedgemore is any better than Mario. There have been plenty of times I have seen Sedgemore run out of steam in the second half and has struggled to be involved with the game.

The Conference seems to require a "certain" type of player - we have already seen a number of ex-league players etc. released from the club who couldn't make an impact in the Conference - Matt Joseph for example. It's been a really funny season with regard to players. Those who you felt would make a big impact in this league haven't.

How do we feel Mints will do in the Conference? He's been out injured and so far has looked pretty comfortable on the ball since his return. He won't get the time and space that he got last year though. Do we expect to much from players like Mints, who excelled last year, to turn the side around upon their return?

At the end of the day its a funny old game ain't it!

The highlights of the game are now on ConferenceTV, i could watch Duffers goal over and over plus i didnt realise Lee`s strike was that good.

One thing that`s strange is that they mention the 9mins of injury time but they don`t show the assault/tackle on Chenners or the sending off!

Probably me being silly - but I couldn't understand why the fourth official raised the board up for 5 added minutes - yet they still hadn't stretchered Chenners off. Surely he should have waited and then given the additional time includingthe time taken to get the stretcher on, loaded up and carted off.

We have come a long way since last year two electronic boards, image next year an electronic scoreboard and maybe a clock.

Is it Crawley that has one of those clocks on the halfway line I am sure they nicked it of Basildon station.

I kept expecting the guy on the mic to announce the next goal will be delayed due to leaves on the pitch.

Just noticed that Northwich beat Leigh last night 1-0.
And guess who scored for the Vics - Quayle. Vics are now two points off moving out of the bottom 3.

a good example of how costly poor ref's can be. if he'd been sent off like he should have been he would have been on his ban for that game, maybe they would have only got a draw giving us a bit more breathing space at the bottom
