Poker Tournament

Recommended Posts

Just curious jl. Different clubs at our level have Supporters Clubs who tend to raise funds on 'social' nights in various different ways and we can all learn from each other. I remember that Mark at Braintree tried to organise a 'Casino Evening' a season or two ago which was, perhaps over-ambitious for a fledgling SC and was cancelled when insufficient tickets were sold before the night. We do a couple of Quiz nights eack season at our place which do pretty well

I'm not a poker player[!] and I hadn't heard of such a thing being organised before.

yes AFF mark did try and get it going but not enough tickets were sold, we do things like quiz night, music quiz, its all idea and stuff like that, give it ago and they normally come off. we done a sponsered cycle ride to heybridge which i got 7 or 8 of us involved, we done really well we raised over £1,000 for the essex air ambulance and we were photographed and put in local papers. if you can get things like that done, and you get good publicity and people will always sponser you if you do it for a good cause like we did. hope you have things in mind and they come off. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/top.gif" alt="" />

We introduced a sponsored walk to a game a few seasons ago. We got about 12 to walk from Clarence Park to [boreham]Woood, 7/8 miles and raised just over £1000, half of which was given to a local Hospice. Then when they were relegated, we walked to [North]Woood which, at 14 miles, is too far really. We raised over £1,500 that time. Hey! I've just realised. Northwood were relegated that season too!. Perhaps a walk is the kiss of death!

I remember thinking that the 10 miles between Stortford and your place is a good, straight, flat road. One day, eh?!

Hendon did one once and 40/50 people went on the thing, including their manager. You could mention it to George. Better get it in this season before he goes to the States, mind.

Right, the details are;

£24 gets you in. Once in, you can have 10,000 chips and take part in a No Limit Holdem Freeze out Tournament.

Price includes a buffet, and there will be a cash bar.

Sunday 27th of November 3pm start, doors open 2pm.

Any prizes Tc? Sounds like a fun day (assuming you dont lose first hand), might see if i can scrape £24 together
