Ive heard you guys have signed David Collins from Redbridge on a full time contract , can anyone confirm ?

He has done well for them this year it seems

Played aginst him in a pre season friendly over at Eastwoodbury lane, keep him off his left was the plan until he goes and bangs one in with his right! Hes quite fast, has quick feet and a good touch.

Our recognised centre-halfs, Robin Trott, Dave McSweeney and Pat Sappleton. After that there's Rob Swaine from the youth team.

So with Macca out Pat transfer listed if he don't play tomorrow looks like a debut tomorrow.

Collins has scored 4 goals this season from midfield, which isn't bad. Sounds like a good signing.

We can almost put out an entire team of wingers now - if everybody was fit that is. I would venture to suggest that centre mid is where we look weakest at the moment, especially now Leon is injured. Be interesting to see who plays there tomorrow!

Not necessarily. I'd doubt we would've sold ourselves short by releasing Dobson and leaving ourselves thin at the back.

Another full timer huh! I thought you guys weren't full time apart from some youngsters?

"Some youngsters" would be a pretty fair description of most of our squad! By my reckoning 8 of the 16 man squad that went to Bromley were under 21 and only 3 were over 25 (Trott, Musti and Hockers!).

 

As somebody who is an avid reader of this forum, I'm sure you will remember that when the move to having training every day was made 18 months ago the plan was a small core of experienced players with the remainder being youngsters, and that still holds true today.

 

Unfortunately our "irrelevent" injury list leans heavily towards the more experienced end of the squad (although Dorms, Leon and Macca are hardly veteran players, they are 3 of the more experienced) which is why it is such a problem for us.
