Iron in trouble

Recommended Posts

"So Cobber. How are things in the clubhouse? Is there much debate concerning the appearance, design and range of new facitities to be provided at the new clubhouse. Single storey or on two floors? I expect that there's a series of display boards with sketch elvations and plans etc. Have details of funding been outlined? Initiatives like 'Buy a brick for a fiver', Personalised wall tiles in the WCs for a pound? That sort of thing"

Dunno! there possibly is, I'll let you know in March.

"Changing the subject altogether, do you know who Tony Lazarou is, Oz?"

No I don't think so, is he Greek?

G'day Ozbrit.

I'm glad that we've resolved any confusion between facts and opinions, Ozbrit. You're quite comfortable with the facts, then?

Internal publicity concerning the redevelopment of Cressing Road, and fund-raising initiatives are interesting issues Oz. Perhaps someone like bomberbass or Andy G can outline details.

Tony Lazarou? He was Chairman at Enfield when Fatboy was on the Supporters Club Committee there, I believe. He obtained planning permission for re-development of the ground, which was completed satisfactorily. Well, to be precise, the redevelopment of the ground was completed satisfactorily about 8 or 10 years ago. Enfield FC have been homeless and ground-sharing ever since. I'm not sure of the details but perhaps Buzz Lightyear could fill you in.

A cautionary tale to all Non League football fans, of course, but bearing no relationship to the exciting times in front of you guys at The Iron, of course.

unforunatly i think we are going to struggle, and im afraid if im realistic i think you will beat us 2 - 1!

BUT!!

I wont be happy if that happens and i think alot of our players will be looking to improve the performance from saturday (which was really sub-par) and Justin really should be able to motivate the players we desperatly need 4 points from you and hampton...i dont care how they come!

I think tomorrow will be a very tough game for us!

Tom, current form goes out of the window for a game like this.

It'll be a battle, but I'm looking forward to it - we always get a warm welcome at New Lodge.

And I know that Bomber will be looking to meet up with Gazza, to get some tips from the PA guru himself.

(Gazza - my Queen track still included?)

Now pay attention Kevin.

Enfield FC have suffered a series a ground-sharing arrangements over the past 10 years or so, since their ground was sold for redevelopment.

That bears no similarity to the position at Braintree Town where planning permission for redevelopment to build 40 flats has been obtained but has not been implemented. Yet. Not implemented, yet.

The Iron are still playing at Cressing Road.

Hmmnn. A good question, Kevin.

They have to move the pitch and build a new clubhouse in order to make way for the new development. According to Buzz Lightyear, he has cleared the principle with the Conference and the Ryman Leagues that the Iron can play on a three sided pitch. I assume that some variation to permit a triangular pitch would need to be cleared with FIFA rather than Messrs Turvey and Moules, so I assume he means a pitch that is surrounded by terraces and stands on three sides only.

The timimg will be interesting. There has already been some slippage as Fatboy declared that the planning application to move the pitch and build the clubhouse was to be submitted in November and that hasn't happened yet. For good reasons, no doubt, whatever they may be.

It wont have occurred to anybody that planning permission could be obtained on the whole lot and sold to finance a relocation to somewhere else.

How far away is Long Melford?

I think that the best policy is that adopted by the Iron fans on here. Have faith and all will be well. Ask no questions. He has always known exactly what he was doing in the past. An enviable track record of unblemished success.

Kevin, its not only the fans who have "faith that all will be well", one has to realise the Chairman doesn't own the club, he is the Chairman of a board of directors. The directors are also committed Iron fans, some of them have been at the club for 30 years or more.

I don't recall AFF having mentioned these other decision makers in any of his presentations, but he does like to make it appear the club is being run as an autocracy. Then there is the references to the Chairman as "fatboy" and "Buzz lightyear", does all this suggest anything to you?

Fear not young Oz. The 'constructive criticisms' on this thread are nowt compared with those aimed at me by Mr Lewis in my Stalebuns Town days. For me it's all sticks & stones. I look at his offerings and smile.

If you want to get really nasty, you could call someone a commercial estate agent, but I find it difficult to stoop that low.

Gazza, nothing wrong with being a pound or two over the plimsol mate. Are you a member of the Stoutist Movement? If not, I'll send you a form ...

Bit like the kids on the council estate behind our mini mansion in Wickford, they used to tease us kids for going to a catholic school in Chelmsford (they thought we must be posh kids at a fee paying school) so Mum said tell 'em "Sticks and stones might break my bones but words will never hurt me" well you guessed, it was sticks and stones all the way after that.

Enjoy tonights match and please can you post up the result before 9.40pm coz I have to leave for work at that time.

Thanks

Phil
