Osman Sesay

There is rightly alot of plaudits for Sesay.

I would add to those ,and equally share the view that whilst he is doing a decent job at right back(much much better than Benevides and Shambles last season)he would be better playing further forward to give us some width and another option in attack.

However, how can he be accommodated into the tream.

CK only plays 3 in midfield, and surely Brayley, Deen and Gradley are head of the queue.

If CK went to 4-4-2 i still can't see how Sesay can be accommodated.

I can't see how you can play both Bertie and Sesay in the same team as both are attcking midfield players.

Thus ,is the clamour for Sesay somewhat misplaced/misguided.

Again, i rate the guy but cant see how /where he can play.

To me he is an 'impact 'player as a sub after about 60 minutes.

Unfortunately, i feel he may be a luxury otherwise, as i thimnk we al agree, he is not a brilliant tackler, and whilst he has flair, most games are won in midfield by grafting away.Thats not Osmans game as far as i can see.

So yes, agree he has real potential, but in reality, how and where can CK play him once we have a proper defender at right back.

any views

Good thought.Put DS up front as he does that anyway without being told too.l.o.l. He's adept at roaming all over. He confuses me sometimes as to where he's playing so I am sure he would confuse the defenders.Hey! Maybe this could be the answer, despite the joking. Maybe with him up front it could make him a star after all. No-ones thought about this move have they?

I am now more convinced than ever that Cookie has been sniffing his 1001. DS up front!!!!!!!!

Surley the bold answer is to play 3-5-1-1.

Have Bill,James and John at the back

Midfield of Sessay,Mcgowan,Deen,Bertie and Allman.

Then Adolph in the pocket and Hilare on his own up front.

Result a complete attacking force that would guarntee goals.

PS Cookie this 1001 is powerfull stuff

We have not seen the best of Sesay by a long way and even in an unfamiliar position in which he is playing he is gaining confidence with every game.

At the beginning of the season Hasim was playing out of position at the back and playing well. Now he is playing in a more familiar position and playing even better.

Michael, I understand the dilemma you are posing and I think the answer to it will be solved over time. Injuries, suspensions, loss of form and unavailabilities of players will play their part.

Dont forget Gavin though, CK has used him to good effect as an attacking midfielder in the latter part of the last two games.

I guess i am posing the question as to whether Sesay is a luxury we cannot afford.

If he gives 10 mins of brilliance great, but football is a 95 min.team game. Will others contribute more in the remaining 85 mins.

Possibly we are not good enough as a ten man team to have Sesay as our luxury flair guy.

Again, i rate the player, and am being controversial to provoke debate, but i do wonder where CK will fit him in.

You can only play 11 and you need balance between attack, midfield and defence

Sesay has been doing the business for the WHOLE 90 minutes since he came into the side MM. Its just that even though he has produced the goods time & time again there is still much more to come from this youngster put in a more attacking role.I cant see how you can say he hasnt been doing it for the FULL ninety minutes.Sesay HAS to be in the team not just because of his undoubted attacking flair but because he has improved no-end.He can only get better & if that better is just a little more than he is producing now then we cant afford to have him out of the side. I think he has EARNED his place in the team, whether it be at the back up front or midfield. I think he is going to be a versatile player where he can play in any position(an all-rounder in cricket terms)& still give his all & that kind of a player cannot be omitted from a side that dosent have too many of those qualities. He hasnt been too exposed yet and is open to no amount of improvement. If he is dropped now just so as to accomodate a "name" then this will blight his continued improvement and will do no good for his confidence whatsoever. He has done nothing wrong,in fact he has been one of only a handful in the team that has consistently been in top form.Just imagine what his form COULD be like in a position that we can see he will thrive in. If this lad is ommitted from our team,& ignored thereafter I think I would be right in saying that he too will go onto better things and we shall live to regret it.
