This game was already sown up by half time after an absolutely stunning display of football from us in the first 45 minutes. The home side were enjoying a recent run of good form after 3 straight wins but they had no answer to a display of pinpoint passing and deadly finishing. Adam Locke gave us the lead after 9 minutes when he volleyed home from a Jon Bates corner, and Andrew Martin made 2-0 10 minutes later from a Barrie Fox free kick. Steve Jones scored our third after 22 minutes and Andrew Martin scored his second just before half time after a great move from midfield and a superb diagonal ball from Nick Lowery.

 

Our fifth came in the 61st minute, Martin shrugging off his marker to send a low shot in from 15 yards to score his first hattrick for the club. With the game effectively lost by this stage the home manager made a triple substitution and Mick Marsden brought on Piller and Rothon for Marsden and Bates. Met Police pulled a goal back with 20 minutes left after which we brought on young keeper Richard Wray in place of Paul Wood. Steve Jones scored our 6th goal with about 15 minutes left but Met Police pulled another goal back with about 10 minutes remaining.

 

This win means we are now away to Northwood in the next round on a date to be arranged.
