I'll second that Alan, Boothy is one of my favourite Fleet players, with great skills and good levels of effort. It's a shame he has to leave, for first team football seems perfectly open to him here at the moment, what with the injury and suspension problems up front. <img src="/forums/images/icons/frown.gif" alt="" /> Let's hope that Gary Abbott can fill the void admirably.

 

Good luck at Welling Boothy - it seems a common place for players to go when they leave Stonebridge Road (e.g. Scott Lindsey, Dave Powell, Lew Watts before he returned).

 

As for Akpo, I must admit that after early promise, he faded somewhat, and I always felt his shooting, while powerful, was rather wayward. Nonetheless, I wish him good luck wherever he may go, and I'll never forget that stunning substitute performance in his opening game against Nuneaton! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smilie_switch.gif" alt="" />

If Toss was on a good deal and Boothie and Sodje have gone we're left with Che , Wilko and young Abbo competing for the forward places .

The letter that we have had from the FA tends to indicate he won't. As far as they are concerned is has had an international clearance this season and can't have another one under rules agreed with FIFA & UEFA.

 

This means that he can't now play for any English club until May 2003, so I suppose he will have to learn to drink Guinness.

 

Oh the Irish transfer window closed last Thursday.

Don't forget Hamid Barr who, according is Andy is at his best playing in the hole behind the front two, so he should be rated as a forward too.

 

Speaking of whom, is it just me who thinks that HB's performances have improved since Tostao left?

I am very sad to hear that Boothy has left the Club, he was without doubt my favourite player and a really great chap.

I can understand him wanting to play every week and to be fair hand on heart I do not think we have seen him at his best this season, I wish him all the very best and hope he comes in to see us when he has a free week.

 

In general I am not sorry to Sodge leave he did not really do much after his one performance. Hamid Barr was a revelation on Saturday, if he plays like that every match, he was indeed a great signing.

 

Hopefully this will leave Andy with some free cash to spend,

but with all our injured players returning, it at least gives him a bit of breathing space.

 

Onward and upward.

 

Hopefully see some of you tonight if the rain stops, otherwise against QPR next Tuesday.
