Jumping the Gun

The SFL News on their web site states that Corby gained promotion with their 1 - 0 win at Uxbridge.

Is this not jumping the gun a little ?

It may be a BIG IF, but, if Waltham Forest win at Corby ( and they must if they want to get in the play-offs ) and Town win at Berko, I believe Town would go up on goal diff.

Any comments from SFL ? <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/boxing.gif" alt="" />

"Division One East – One win from their last seven matches has seen Boreham Wood’s seemingly unassailable lead eroded to just two points. Corby Town, who have been challenging amongst the Play-Off places for most of the season, not only won automatic promotion with a 1-0 win at Uxbridge on Saturday, they are in with a chance of the Championship.

Wood have been Champions designate for weeks; their lead at the top of the table has been in double figures at times but since being knocked out of the FA Trophy at the Semi-Final stage they have garnered only 4 points out of eighteen. Saturday’s goalless draw at home to Great Wakering Rovers has allowed the Steelmen to reduce the arrears to two points.

On the final day of the season Boreham Wood travel to Stamford. The Daniels have not been beaten at home all season. Corby are at home to Waltham Forest, who need a victory to have a hope of qualifying for the Play-Offs.

Enfield Town, who have closely tracked Boreham Wood all season, have been pushed back into the Play-Off pack. The Towners will have home advantage over Wivenhoe Town, Waltham Forest or Dartford.

Despite defeats on Saturday against Sittingbourne and Waltham Forest respectively, Stamford and Barking & East Ham United are assured of a place in the extra-time games. But only one can play at home, so next weekend’s results remain crucial.

At the foot of the table, Berkhamsted Town are relegated after Saturday’s 5-1 drubbing at Wivenhoe Town. Goals by Stuart Joplin, Paul and Sean Hillier, Simon Thomas, and Darren Bethell condemned Berko’ to Step 5 football next season. "

Let's see if our boys can prove them wrong then!

Oh well, let's just pray that someone up there is on our side.

It would certainly make for an entertaining evening if Corby lost and Town won.

I would not bet on it, but, as they say.......

It's a funny old game ( maybe ! ) <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/boxing.gif" alt="" />

Dreams are made of..................

Make that Thomas, as I do not think Mr Clarke has been in the side.

Now, back to that dream............ <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/sleeping.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/sleeping.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/sleeping.gif" alt="" />

lovely stuff said:
I strongly fancy a 0-1 to Waltham Forest (Clarkey),and a 1-0 to Enfield Town (Hammett).

Mark my words.

I said a similar thing on a seperate thread LS, & was mocked by a few, I do like your Hammett twist on the scenario though!
