Well I feel...... ok!!

What do you expect - we have a young side whom are still finding their feet up against reserves and youth of a premiership side!

Their reserves won the title last year so I've been told and they are also full time with the best coaching available.

We battled hard and should not feel disheartened!!

I'm still proud to say I support Canvey Island FC through thick and thin!!

At the end of the day, there was over 1,000 people there tonight so we made some much needed money which is far more important than any pre season result.

Lee Barnard bagged four goals and Charlie Daniels hit an 18-minute hat-trick as our Spurs XI scored XI at Canvey Island on Monday night.

 

 

 

THE KEY ACTION...KICK-OFF 7.45pm...

 

3mins: GOAL - SPURS. Barnard touch released Daniels, cut into box from the left, tidy finish low into the bottom corner from 18 yards.

4mins: CHANCE. Barnard found a yard of space in the box, 12 yards out, screwed shot just wide as challenge came in.

 

6mins: Daniels tucked pass inside to O'Hara, 18 yards out, managed to get decent strike on goal as he was clattered by West but no problem for Wiseman.

 

9mins: CLOSE. Rugg run to the byline, right side, fizzed low cross to near post that Gordon missed in front of goal.

 

12mins: SAVE. O'Hara split defence with perfect pass from half-way for Barcham to run onto, one-on-one chance, Wiseman out quickly to smother.

 

13mins: CLOSE. Rugg dipping volley from 25 yards sailed a couple of yards wide.

 

14mins: GOAL - SPURS. Maghoma broke down the right and spotted Daniels in yards of space far post, measured low cross slotted away by Daniels in style from eight yards.

17mins: GOAL - SPURS. Daniels on the ball again, this time infield, rolled it into the path of O'Hara who struck sweet shot into bottom corner from 25 yards.

18mins: GOAL - SPURS - DANIELS HAT-TRICK. O'Hara burst from midfield into the box, Wiseman out to make a fine save but loose ball rolled outside his box to Daniels who picked his spot with his right foot from 20 yards, in off the post.

19mins: SAVE. Lewis this time cut through the middle of the home defence, one-on-one chance, Wiseman saved with legs.

 

24mins: Good build-up ended with Daniels crossing for Lewis to hit volley into the ground straight at Wiseman.

 

27mins: Gordon fed in down right channel of area, flashed shot across goal.

 

33mins: Daniels attempted ambitious volley on the turn from 20 yards that sailed into the car park.

 

38mins: Ifil drilled 30-yarder wide.

 

42mins: Barnard released Daniels down the left, beat his man and picked our O'Hara on the edge of the box, first-time volley high and wide.

 

Added time: GOAL - SPURS. O'Hara's corner hit on the volley by Defendi, definitely took a deflection on the way in - Barnard claimed it was off him, and therefore claimed it!

65mins: SAVE. Barnard prodded Lewis' cross towards goal from six yards but Wiseman managed to block with legs.

 

68mins: SAVE. Great run from Hutton cutting in from right, tried curler from 22 yards that Wiseman saved at full stretch to his left.

 

72mins: GOAL - SPURS. Barcham did all the hard work, beat his man and hit the byline, right channel of box, low cross to far post finished clinically by O'Hara.

That young Spurs eleven arfe class. They beat us 7-1 in an early pre-season friendly. They reached the youth cup semi only 15 months ago. Train together every day and some of those ladds will make it as pros big time. No disgrace I say.
