Thanks Dave....I will get there at soon as I can ( subject to chauffeur's commitments ), but I don't think it's wise for me to get there at 08.30 !!

Yes actually I've just traced my roots back to the 1820's, my family came from Hornchurch.


However it appears Busta isn't the only one to not see the irony in my post. Look at this helping from Essexman on Confguide.

So on a whole they seem to think not only that they can, but that they will, win, some go as far to suggest that they are the bigger club. They have never played at this level, never in the Conference national and never a Professional club. One guy even says "I prefer this tie more then if we'd got Fisher". I can imagine them sh*tting themselves had they got Haverhill Rovers.

The real gem though is this bloke...

After Rugby, now Gravesend, I can see us going on to play Rushden and Cheltenham to complete the retro 90s tour before taking out a Premiership team*.

West Ham in the Third rd, Man Utd away in the Fourth rd, Tottenham away in the Fifth, Arsenal in the Sixth, probably an attendance of 9,000,000, Liverpool in the Semi-Final at Villa Park and Chelsea in the final.

Then in the UEFA Cup...

I've probably taken it out of context but it just felt like so much fun.


If offered 1-0 with a Charlie Mac pen in the 94th minute I'd take it.

Hold on mate, All true footie fans should not harp on about the past 1966 and all that all that matters is the present and the future.

 

As you say we used to play each other and more often than not you used to beat us ...all that really matters is the result on the 28th and i for one would take a narrow win or a replay

so better to enlighten him...no?? Asides, recall our last competitive meeting a few seasons back bing a 2-0 win for you at yours. You start as favourites on Saturday...goalscoring for us is no problem, but alas our defence leaks like a sieve!! Best of luck....hope it's a good game.

Your complete history.

 

No mention of the Conference, no mention of ever being professional, we're currently the 98th best team in the country. No mean feat considering we're your whipping boys and we're holding our own in a professional league.

 

Although this is our record against you...

Don't get me wrong October the 28th will be very tough and I would take 1-0 right now if offered it but I fail to see where you get the "Chelmsford City are big club while Gravesend & Northfleet are the minnows".

Lost me there, I've not mentioned G+N being minnows...or us being a bigger club...

Believe it or not there was a world of non-league footie out there prior to formation of the Conference, but there again you're probably too young to know that. All clubs have their highs and lows over the years, ours was a while back, and yours is now. Simple really 'ain't it.
