The second half was probably the worst 45mins I've seen from a team I support.

Serves you right for not supporting your home town team..........hi! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/bisou.gif" alt="" />

Yeah, but nothings set in stone.
Glad, your back, fancy meeting up for a drink?.

Nothing has changed. Still pumping high balls to forwards who will not win many headers.

It looks like the club will have to wate another season until it learns to pick players according to their ability and form and not their name.

Or "supporters" criticise players on their form and ability and not their name.

I have to say in Jim's defence that I was behind the dugout in the first half and he and Peter were screaming at the players to play it on the deck. Some were clearly not playing to instructions. Mind you, Pete then called them all a load of useless [****!!****] and [****!!****]!!!

Sounds reasonable, that's how they played!.

I know its hard to believe. But YES.

Some have made the accusation that a certain player never gets dropped or subbed (when his 'form or ability' doesn't warrent such loyalty),because of who his dad is.

That is different from supporters discriminating against a player JUST because of his name.

For what its worth i though Bryan had a very good game against the 'slow' defenders of Ware. But both he and Crace had stinkers last night against Redbridge, and once again its poor Dean Nyman who get dragged off.

Why not take magona off instead of Nyman? And why keep both ineffective forwards on, when bringing on two forwards from the bench?

Shocking result, and judging from the accounts here, the manner of it is even more shocking.

As I've said before, if players ignore instructions, or refuse to play to them, there can be only one course of action: that player is not selected. He should be substituted if circumastances permit. If he does not mend his ways, then there is no need for him to remain at the club. I cannot see how any player, manager, coach or supporter would disagree with this simple and obvious premise!

A team defending that high up the pitch is very vulnerable. I am frustrated and disappointed that we could not exploit the vast open plains behind the defenders (and I wasn't even there!).

I wouldn't blame either the forwards or the midfield: they are so interdependent I would regard them as a single unit when attacking.

Hammatt and Crace did not have stinkers. They were given no service.

What worried me about last night is how easy it was for a limited ability but well organised team like Redbridge to:

1) score against us

2) defend against us

Our midfield did nothing. Velandia lost the midfield battle, then lost his confidence. In fact scrap that as the midfield were bypassed by long balls most of the time.

The Redbridge number 9 was the best player on the pitch by a long way - he worked hard on and off the ball and took his goal well. First half they were better than us. Second half they set out their stall and we didn't have the nous to break it down. Their timewasting was annoying but hey - they were winning!!

We look like a mid-table team.

We needed players who can run with the ball at defenders in situations like last night. I know I have said this before but I would like to see Neil Hughes be given more of a chance. All he ever seems to get is ten mins and that is not enough. when we played against what was pretty much a full strength Barnet (yes I know it was a friendly) he scared the pants out of their defence. At least give him 45 mons if not a start.

Totally agree with you there bjr, they were a well organised, hard working side who set out their stall once they got a goal ahead. I'm sure things would have been different had we got the first goal, and there would have been a lot more space as they came at us and committed forward, rather than getting bodies behind the ball. That said, we didn't and we didn't really look like carving out many opportunities. There's no point in blaming individuals, I don't think anyone played terribly or particularly well either. I will say that we miss Paul Campbell in a big way, Magona and Allen are very solid defensively, but when you've got a full back like Campbell playing it gives you an extra outlet and an extra attacking dimension.

Oh yeah, and I agree with Chopper too - we will have games/results like this from time to time, it's a competitive league with some organised sides, but we're 5th and after last Saturday, showed we can play football. Let's just pick ourselves up, get along to the next game, support all 11 players that start, and hopefully pick up all 3 points.
