Thats a great result. I wonder how many under 18's were playing in this one.

Watched the game. Firstly, I`m sure you will all join me in wishing Ollie a speedy recovery from the shoulder injury he suffered Wed night, nasty and callus, but no booking, accidental hand ball does though.

Well worth the drive and late night. An even game with few chances at either end, bit of a midfield battle for most of the half. The odd moment when Ashford came forward Margates defence dealt with well. Margate struggled to get up field, as with the u18s when players catch up with Pauls runs off the ball things will happen, as it was he again ran his boot off for little return. The other u18s all performed well, from the stand you could not tell who was from which team. The game was rather set and no one really looked like worrying the score line other than a few long shots. Then, with a couple of minutes to go, Ashford won a corner. Tall lad, late run and 1-0, moments later half time.

Second half, Margate battled and a change saw Kyle (u18) on up front who put himself about but still Margate could not threaten. On about the hour Ollie went off and on came Jamie (u18) striker to team up with Kyle. As in the u18s Jamie does his best work in and around the 18yd box and it only took him a couple of minutes to win a pen, not sure who put it away for 1-1.

This woke Ashford and they seemed to up the game pressing Margate, Chas at left back was so solid beating off all that came his way. Meanwhile, Jamie once again trouble Ashford defence and again, just out side the box was taken down. Quick thinking by Eliott on the free kick, taken while Ashford were still working out what to do, put Margate ahead at 1-2. Another chance came the strikers way but a bad bounce took the ball out of reach. Shane came on late in the day as the game continued with both sides pressing. Into injury time and Margate seemed certain to take all the points. Sadly a hasty challenge in Margates box gave Ashford a chance and a well taken spot kick evened the score.

All in all, considering that Margates team was hastily put together they did exceptionally well and unlucky not to win the game. Well played all.
